so just the other day, my brakes suddenly stopped working like they used to. ive got dual disc brakes on my rear axle. the calipers and pads are fine, and nothing in the linkage appears to be loose. a buddy was saying that a 'gloss' can sometimes form on the discs and that you need to use fine sandpaper to get it off. anyone have experience with this? the discs dont feel slippery or anything, and the pads are still in good shape. is it safe to sand the discs?

hmm, do i use any kind of cleaner with the emery cloth? the brakes do feel like they are gripping the pads hard, but they are still slipping. what causes the glazing?

do i use this cloth just lightly on the pads or really rub on them?

no cleaner just the emery cloth then blow them off..

yes, home depot.

glazing can be caused by heat and dust or other contaminants..

just lightly sand them off with the emery cloth..
