Bob, I think you’re entertaining as all HeII! Yes, you overthink things, but atleast you entertain us other overthinkers. You don’t need a BOV, you need a burst panel though. :ROFLMAO:

Same here. I'm wanting to see your progress. Are you still on track to finish?
I was unaware there was a track. lol. Probably won’t finish this year. I only started a build thread in the contest section because Will wanted to build, but I think he bowed out a while back.

I started a new job so side projects have taken the back seat. Plus I like having a project to work on when I have the time. No fun for me to finish a project. The journey > The destination. Plus it’s cold in Chicago.

So what kind of job did you get?

So what kind of job did you get?
Currently working the Service Desk at Home Depot part time. I got a couple other side gigs too. First time with a “real” job since my series of spine surgeries. Not a job I want, but I needed something to help with the bills.

I just applied to a bunch of places close to home. A couple interviews and offers. A job I wanted was offered, but the offer was rescinded after getting my driving record which showed a revocation from a DUI in 2017.

So I’ve been there a few shifts so far. A couple hours of watching videos, a couple hours of shadowing an associate, then just basically working a register. It’s an easy job, will just take some time getting familiar with their crappy POS programs and apps.

PS… don’t ever call Home Depot. I will just transfer the call to the a department that will never answer or park the call and page an employee in a department that is understaffed and unable to pick up.

At the homo depo here they don't even bother answering.
From what I’ve seen so, far it goes like this…

Answer phone and listen for keyword to determine which department to transfer the call. Transfer the call the appropriate department and wait for it to come back to the desk because nobody picks up. Pick back up the call and park it then use the intercom to page somebody to pick up the call you just parked. Then when it comes back again, just repeat the process.

The department basically is cashier, returns, inputting orders, releasing pick-up orders, and phones. The easiest things are sales and accepting payments on HD credit accounts. Pick ups are easy if they are in the correct location. Returns are easy for the most part. Sometimes they are more complicated for special order type things. I have only did one order input so far for a pallet of paving stones. After telling the guy orders can take 2 hours to get pulled, he immediately asked for a manager and got it pulled right away. Also got a lesson from somebody in Delivery about when to use a flatbed and when to use a box truck. I guess somebody else recently messed up. Anything that can be strapped without being damaged should get a flat bed. Receiving Department does not seem friendly with the service desk. They have to handle all the “Return to Vendor” returns after we take them.

The returns desk at my HD seems it will literally take anything that comes in the door. They are especially bad about lumber. You can often find lumber on the racks that has screw holes, mud/dirt, even dried concrete as if it was used in a form. And I especially enjoy finding my purchases have been previously opened and the contents pilfered.

People find stuff on the side of the road and try to bring it for store credit. On my first day, a customer called to say their shower door was opened and gone through and taped back together. I was told to tell them that we have to open and inspect the product to make sure it was all there and if you want to come to the store to get another, it will look the same.

I’m not sure if this was just BS, or if it was a delivery and that is part of the process, or what?

I like Lowe’s because they still have 3 cu ft of peat moss for $20. It’s just a few miles further from me than THD. Menards is the closest of those types of stores around me.

Maybe 1.5 miles to Menards, 3.5 miles to HD, 5.5 miles to Lowe’s.

Close? Ha. I'm 60 miles from a big box store like that. 25 to the closest Walmart. There's not even a dollar general within 25 miles.
Just wait, all of the sudden 6 Dollar Generals popped up within a 5 mile radius of my house. It’s ridiculous! Scientists are working on a spray repellent right now to keep them away. Their worse than mosquitoes!

I made an offer on a house in Chillicothe MO without ever seeing the place in person. I wanted someplace that was slightly warmer than Chicago winters, good amount of sun. Decent amount of rain. I selected Chillicothe based on proximity to a Walmart and Lowe’s. My offer got rejected. How I ended up in this condo.IMG_7729.jpegIMG_7730.png
