Hi Guys,
I don't know if anyone has had a problem hooking up a throttle to the HF Blue 6.5hp engine . . . but I thought I'd share some info of what I did.
This is especially good for new comers who are afraid to take anything apart on their engine . . .!
Step one: (I have removed my Blue Gas Tank from the engine. Empty the tank of gas first. Then remove the two nuts on the bottom of the tank and lift the tank off. The screws are attached to the tank so don't worry about them coming off. Also, you'll have to remove the black, rubber gas line that runs from the tank to the engine. With some pliers, pinch the wire clip that attaches the line to the tank and pull off.)
Remove the filter casing by unscrewing the silver wing screw on top of the black casing (fig.1)
Remove the filter by unscrewing the silver wing screw on top of the black filter. (fig. 2)
Remove the bottom black filter casing by unscrewing the two gold phillips head screws. (fig.3)
See the throttle arm? It's the long silver lever that swings back and forth horizontally. Swing it back and forth from full throttle to slow throttle until you see where the pivot bolt's nut it . . . and loosen it so the throttle arm swings freely and it's spring is able to pull it back into the slow position (note the rabbit and turtle images on the side of the engine).
Do not remove this nut . . . just loosen it.
Note the faint white circles in fig.4 that indicate where I connected the throttle cable sheath . . . and the actual metal, throttle cable. Also note in fig 4 the bolt, nut and throttle sheathing clamp in the lower portion of the photo.
Fig. 5 is how it would look when you have attached the throttle sheath by using a bolt and clamp (I found mine on an old Briggs engine . . . but anything would work as long as it holds the throttle sheathing in place) and how the throttle cable attaches to the throttle arm. I haven't actually clamped the throttle cable wire in place yet, but will use a wire nut to secure it to the throttle arm.
Place everything back on the engine and hook your cable to the throttle pedal. Any questions would be welcome.
You're ready to go . . . . just don't forget to check your brake first!
