Quick question,

On my Victa 160cc 2 stroke is the fan and shroud from when it was a mower.

Being that it is mounted right behind the seat would it be a problem to remove the fan blades (smooth machined flywheel) and shroud ? Would the cooling still be adequate ?

I know the original Victa Sports Kart with a tuned 125cc does this, but it is offset to the side. so would get some passing air.

I don't really see the point in removing the fan blades, the fly wheel is scary light as it is and I can't see much power being lost by pumping the air. The best flywheels to do this with would be early 125 ones, they have a fly wheel that looks like the fins were added as an afterthought where as your 160s flywheel would be a b!tch to lighten and keep balanced/safe. The early 125 flywheel bolts on of course.

I've found Victas don't care too much about the airflow over them. Almost all of them have fins blocked up with greasy crap anyway. Just clean the barrel up nice and stick a bit of sheet metal on the kart to direct air to the engine and it'l be fine.

Your Victa is a Series 70 MK1 right? Or maybe a Series 60?

Thanks

I dont know anything about victa engines but I just wanted to tell ya I thought your kart was cool man!

Did you ever add a rear bumper? If you ride/race with other karts, I'd think they would end up destroying your header and muffler when other karts would accidentally (or intentionally...) bump into the rear of your kart.

PS: I really dug that cool early-60's race kart ad you linked too

Thanks for your comments people, I'm not sure which mower it was there is a picture in he first post. A mower expert probably knows.
As for the rear bar I will be adding something for its first track visit.;)
