So I got my TC with the red CW spring, mounted on the inboard side as shown in the comet manual.
My TC is actually an Ebay knock off, but I think that they are dimensionally the same.
I was supplied with the two pulleys and a belt, nothing more. No hardware, no instructions.
Referring to the Comet manual, the supplied belt requires a center to center distance of 8 3/16"
I concluded that is impossible to do on the 420cc clone that I have. After a few redesigns, the best center to center I could achieve was 10 1/2".
I attached a few pics. The mount frame for the engine and drive assembly, and two pics with all the parts installed.
Now to build the front end of the kart!!

That's some really beautiful welding/finishing work! If you don't even get it to run, you've still got something there. Great craftsmanship.

I hope so too. Just been studying about 40 series TC's for a possible 420 replacement on current 520 lb. kart. Looks to me like $87 on Amazon will get me a separate driver and driven, then any common 7/8 outer width belt will fit them. All it would take is a piece of 3/4" keyed axle (I'd choose that over the 5/8") and a pair of bearings to make a jackshaft as close to driver as possible on kart. Correct length belt purchase at Johnstone, Grainger, JC Whitney, etc. to fit.

$87 is too cheap to not give it a try!
520 lbs kart?! I think you have to start calling it something else at that point ! Lol.
Is that the one decked out in the US flag paint scheme ?

Yeah, and the stars and stripes thing was my answer to "What color to paint it would appeal to the broadest range of people when I sell it?". That covers everybody because of the anybody number that wouldn't like it, I wouldn't sell it to them anyway, those communist traitors.
After the raging success of the "DragginBallz" minibike build, this "SchizoBallz" kart build was supposed to be my first do-everything 2-seater gokart. It was only an accident that after sitting on the shop floor and marking out a comfortable fit for my 6'3" self that it got buggy size big as it did. Massive overbuild with 1.5" square tube 11 gauge steel and 16 gauge sheetmetal made the weight even worse.
Considering putting this crazy hotrod motor in next "BareBallz" kart build that's planned to be a wheelie machine built as the barest of old school parts, and that'd make it fast enough to kill you. As in 60 mph single-seater with pitman arm steering, scrub brakes, and no suspension.
Need a patsy to test pilot that speed, because I sure won't.

Actually the drink dispenser does indeed have an optional feature. You don't have to put my personal favorites Cuervo 1800 Anejo and O.J. in them. Could be as innocuous as Gatorade and Red Bull, whatever you option for.
Bonus option is if not putting in adult beverages you don't need to put the keyed padlock on the separate dispensing buttons' steel cover for compliance with the open container law.
Flamethrower can optionally be blasted with or without popping open the raw exhaust cutout it's mounted on at the same time.

MadPro, that bike is pretty impressive. Do you build this stuff for a living? From what I've seen in the various pics, you have a pretty good shop set up.

Nah, no living from it other than the thrill of living period. Been retired several years, and been running the entire show as far as weekly buffet breakfasts and several yearly huge food events at my church. I also take care of all the buildings on the campus, including replacing our 60-ton chiller, building a sprinkler system, building water filter system in kitchen, adding outdoor lighting and wiring, blahblahblah..................for free as the staff Volunteer Sexton and the Men Of All Saints Kitchen Manager.
Going to the church 4-5 times a week got to feeling like it was a job, decided I had to do something that was only for L.C. "Loose Cannon" West (myself), by "Loose Cannon Creations".
Built out my shop in the original chiller equipment room at the church, all the way I wanted it. Ever seen the hotrod decals "Holy Garage"? That became the name of my shop where I build this stuff. "DragginBallz" has some of those decals on it and a Predator 212 hotrodded to 12 hp. with a 5-position shocked wheelie bar and working MONO-shock Springer front end. Over a year-long build, sold for $400 less than I had in it, but had planned for that all along. $1 a day for the fun of building a 40-year long dream that had 40 years to ferment and get twisted. You can't sell anybody a minibike that's guaranteed to cripple or kill them for $1200. Took $750 and $300 shipping from Jacksonville, FL to Ohio.
Current "SchizoBallz" kart build (15+ hp.) is a continuation of perverting my imagination. I do plan on getting my money back at least on this build, costs are probably up to $2800 at this point.
Attaching a pic of what I felt obligated to put on the minibike for eventual buyer in place of a headlight. $12.99 from Amazon.

Use only a MANCO or Comet belt do not use any old belt! They will not hold up. Check Gokart Supply, BMI or somewhere else for the proper belt.

Shop around for belts.
Comet or Manco do not manufacture belts. Rebrand at best.

On line, I have seen a 2 pack of belts for $37.
"Suitable foercomet TC"

Or,

$64 for one belt. " comet replacement"

Or,

$110 for one belt. Packaged as a comet belt.

I am leaning more towards " any A belt" ( kevlar)"
Will do. I'll try cheap first and see how it holds up.

Just had to correct myself on post about belts to Bigblockguy, where I said same thing about common 7/8" V-belts-to-fit as I said here. Talked to Gokart Supply about it, am now convinced that belts made expressly for the CVT's are the only way to go. A common V-belt would only be acceptable for emergency repairs or if planning to shred it fast just to get a quick ride in.
GKS's belts at $39.50 ain't cheap, but I'm sure price-shopping around for a dedicated CVT belt would lessen the bite.

I have never heard of anything good coming from the cheap belts. Couple of years ago I bought the kids a mb200. It came factory with a cheap belt. It would not even move with a 57lbs girl on it. I did nothing more than just change to a Genuine Comet belt. It would move my 300lb butt. Got over 2 years out of that belt. I’ll pay more, it’s cheaper and works better!
