Whats up people its me again with a few questions. Well you see i have a 212cc predator engine that has the governor removed on my yerf dog (idk the model). I want to put a 420cc engine on it but my questions are is it worth it? Is a 420 better than a 212 ik it has more horsepower but wht about speed wise and climbing mountains( small mountains). My go kart has a torque convertor on it thats for up to 8hp so do i have to buy a brand new torque convertor or can i just buy a new clutch for the torque convertor. I'll be glad to recieve any information you have off this. Should i just keep the 212 on it? I also found a 670cc engine i think on cdaiglists for like 300 or 400 which is a good price but i think thats too big. Any informtation will be apprecatied

1. Not to be rude, but this isn't YouTube. Just be yourself..
2. You mean hills
3. A 420 does have a ton more power. You can gear it for more speed with a torque converter, overall 16hp is a pretty good upgrade.
4. Don't get the predator 420, get a "power land 16hp" engine from ebay. They're only $170!
5. 670 is probably too big.
Have fun!

Alright and yeah i meant hills. $170 for an engine isnt too much but what about shipping it'll be kind of a big cost wont it? I got my predator 212 engine at the flea market for $50. It was new and they even broke it in. So i think i can get a $420 from the same guy for a good price. What about the torque convertor? Will i need to buy a brand new one or just the clutch for it?

It's up to you between the clutch and torque converter, but it'll be for a 1 inch shaft with either the predator or power land, so it'll be more expensive, like 60 bucks on eBay for the clutch and a lot more for a torque converter.

You will need to switch the entire TC as a 30 series is asymmetrical &, IIRC, 40 series are symmetrical... not to mention the HP ratings, they apply the the whole assembly, not the individual pieces...

As mentioned by ultralight, you can use a higher final ratio with a 16hp engine because, although it, too, will be governed to 3600rpm, there's a lot more torque available... which is what you need for accelerating

$95 for 40 series TC
$40 for jack shaft assembly
$30 for TC belt
$15 TC sprocket
$10 locking collars for jack shaft

$360 total?

You can now buy a 40 series in a TAV style for around $100 (chinese knock-off); Questionable but, we haven't heard any complaints so far...
