Due to the Corona Virus, lots of us (globally) have been "advised" to stay home
...schooling has been suspended :furious2:
...many work places are closed (hopefully temporary)
...or some places, are on a complete "lock-down" :ack2:

So, most of us have some (lots) of extra time to catch up on stuff
...like clean-up the garage (no more excuses)
...work on your kart(s) (&/or riding 'em)
…& also, to do projects with the kids (to help keep 'em busy) :2guns:

I'd like to encourage everyone to post/tell us about some projects your/were doin' :wai:
(especially with our kids)

I'll start with, a hydro-dipping project me & the kids did.

I picked up a couple of cheap water bottles @ Wal-Mart (~$1.00)
...my Desteny calls 'em "Hydro-Flasks" :roflol:

We filled a 5-gal. bucket up with water.
...then, sprayed several colors of paint onto the water
...swirled it around a bit
(we did a couple of "test dips" to see how it would turn out)
…& then, dipped the water bottles

They seemed to turn out pretty good
…& just look at those smiles

Now, they have some very unique "Hydro-Flasks" :bannana:

It is a briggs 18 hp industrial apposed twin on a Murray riding mower that I got for free, like 2 yrs ago. when I got it it did not run, and i did not know anything about small engines, because I was still into rc cars. i basically just took it apart and lit it sit in my driveway until last week.

I bought a truckload of lumber instead of a truckload of toilet paper when this BS all started.

Spent the last 2 days building a tree fort for the kids. I wanted to keep the supporting structure as minimalistic as possible, so I did some creative framing and built some steel braces.

Going to build a slide for it... Framed from wood and decked with 1/4" thick HDPE sheet.

I have been meaning to replace the barge boards on my flat in the garden, and I eventually got around to it. Not perfect, but good enough :D

You really shouldn't be going around buying random stuff from people... That's kind of the whole point of the social distancing and quarantine.

Did some more reorganizing in the truck bed... Been wanting to get some metal to make a jack mount for my hi-lift jack. I didnt have the right stuff I wanted, so I made do... Im not totally happy with it... but Itll do for now until I get some more steel...
I used some bed rail and some roundbar(I think its 5/8") I found on the ground of the road, must have fallen off a truck or something...
Made a tab for a lock to mount and keep it some what secure...

Main thing was to get it up and off the bed, floating about in the back...
Been kinda ****ing me off for a while now..

Completed a set of gigantic barn doors for the shop and got them hung into place and adjusted to work smoothly.

Working on recently purcased 94 Dakota 5.2L no fire issue next... crank position sensor

Kids asked if I could build a zip line from the tree fort... I said when the quarantine is over, absolutely, but I don't have a long enough piece of cable right now. Shoulders slumped, heads hung low, kids walking away muttering "stupid virus"... I don't know how well anyone else's kids are dealing with this quarantine, but mine are taking it pretty rough. No school, no friends over, can't visit Grandma and Grandpa, heck they haven't left the house (and yard) in almost a month.

So being me, I said "Well, give me an hour in the shop, and I'll see what I can come up with. I can't promise anything, but I'll try."

So here we have the impromptu Saturday quarantine Zipline. 1⅛" poly blend 12 strand 48k rope (yes, I have that laying around), a couple 4" hand truck rims, some scrap steel, a chain hoist, and a lifting sling.

It's not a permanent solution, but it sure was a heck of a lot of fun for the afternoon. I'll build something more permanent when I can get the proper materials. :2guns:

Just once actually... One side effect of my job is rigging and figuring catenary curve and force vectors are just about second nature now. I knew my arse was going to smack the ground right before the fire pit, and if I tensioned it enough so it wouldn't, the kids would fly into the tree. But I had to go for it anyway, because well, it's a zip line. :lolgoku:
