My 9 year old daughter and I are trying to do this as summer project. We bought this not running old Manco. We have big plans - go through all the drive train, suspension, new motor, add some body work, paint, THE WORKS! We started about a month ago so I'll try and get everyone caught up.

Thanks for the welcome. Did I post this in the right place for the contest?

Well let me give an update as to what we've done in the first month:

- pressure washed all the grease and grime off
- disassemble almost everything.
- take the wheels apart and found the balls falling out of the bearings when we took the axle nut off.🤣
- straightened the frame with the help of a torch and some giant pry bars.
- cut off front spindles (going to replace them with larger ones with the spring under the axle for a bit of suspension)
- stripped old floor graphic from the pan. TIP - use a heat gun and quality thick putty knife and it can make your life light years easier
- started to design and mock up extra roll cage (with pvc)
-stripped paint off wheels and various suspension parts

UP NEXT:
- weld some gussets on the front axles
- fabricate roll cage

I wanna know more about the PVC. Mock up? Or Intake Snorkel? Or???
Mock up roll cage. See most recent posts and it's more clear in those pics.

HOWEVER, I think you may be on to something with the snorkel idea!🤣

Got started on the roll cage today and daughters first welding lesson. She did the welding and was very pleased with herself. Not bad for her first try. I haven't told her about the fun in store for her of grinding down her excess welds ye gr!😋

She's 9 and did that? I am a failure as a parent.

For real. I'll let me 7yo son wear the helmet. but to actually make an arc and melt metal.... that's a ways off. But they do say that girls are smarter at a younger age. They are less likely to try and kill an ant with a plasma torch. haha.

Got another days work in and made some real progress. More of the roll cage fabricated and welded in place and stripped some more paint. I only screwed up cutting the same tube 4 times!🤣 Enjoy!

Update 6-11-18

Done a ton since last posted. Here are a few highlights:

1) Finished almost all metal fabrication - roll cage, seat belt mounts, frame cleanup

2) Mounted pedals for dad and pedals and quick release extensions for daughter with all linkages worked out

3) Extended brake rod and installed different spring return mechanism

4) Finished cleaning, sanding, priming, and painting rear wheels

5) Lengthed steering shaft and remount

6) Added quick-release steering adapter and new 30" steering wheel

7) Reconfigured/routed tie rods to clear foot pedals

8) Started priming and final sanding EVERY surface (ongoing)

Some more accent color parts painting.

Oh and I should've taken more before and after pics, but the axle hangers in the pic show the condition of virtually EVERY surface before we sanded or cleaned them.
