I've been off and on about how I wanted to pivot the control arms. At first I wanted to use a 5/8 rod drilled for a cotter pin, but for some reason I just didn't like the idea of having cotter pins hanging out holding my control arms on. What I ended up doing was welding a nut to the end of a 5/8 threaded rod to make a 16" long bolt, then welding 5/8 nuts on either end of the control arm mounts on the frame. This way I have a good solid threaded connection on either end, but there's no unnecessary clamping of the control arm since the bolt head is clamping against the nut it's butted up to.

FYI: Your first attempt was thrown to moderation (that's why you couldn't see it) because it was in the wrong section (for starters)...

Unfortunately, I can't qualify you & move this thread because I'm a fellow entrant...

Very nice.......much more ambitious than my project.

I wouldn't have done the threaded rod but that's just my pet peeve because the threads get worn down easily and then things get sloppy.

You're absolutely right man and to add on top of that the OD of threaded rod is actual a hair less than its nominal size so it'll probably have a bit of slop from the get go. I'm hoping it's negligible but if it's a problem I'll probably end up buying a set of dies and threading just the end of actual 5/8 rod. Fingers crossed it's negligible though.

Been working on this to try to pick a drive ratio. Given all the info at the top it spits out all the info at the bottom. The middle is just for conversions. It neglects rotational friction and inertia so the acceleration and times are over and under what real-word would be but it works to get an idea. The drive ratios should be spot on though.

Delivery of goodies from BMI today. The shocks were cheap and beautiful but they are so much stiffer than I thought they would be!

Well hopefully they work out for you. But like you said, they were cheap so I guess worst case scenario you have to buy another set.

It is a differential and I'm also interested to see how I construct the driveshafts for it. :popcorn: Lol I have some working ideas but anything great would cost a fortune so I'm hoping the macguyvr method will work.
