Piranha MODIFIED Lots of little touches turn signals, brake lights, head lights, full suspension, full body, horns, and all sorts of little surprises. LET THE FUN BEGIN. BTW I have coffee for 25 cents a cup at my garage.

As you can see I'm doing this all by hand tools so when I get into the suspension and controls it will slow down abit. The basic frame is always the fastest. Words of advice ALWAYS work off a center line to make sure your frame is straight.

True but it feels good to do something after such a long winter and this won't be my only build in this contest. Summer is full of projects and wasting gas riding them. BTW I only cut the metal to length yesterday didn't even start the angle cuts till this morning. So basically only 10 hrs work. Mind you I did do 30 hours of cleaning in garage before that just to see the floor so thats where most of the pain comes from.

Good work
Fast progress

Have a look at the upgrades piranhas

In the stck from they will only just conpete with a oddy
Small frame and shocking suspension
Also the external fuel tanks are really dangerous

If I were u
Duel a arms at the front
not a dodgy quad cut and swap a proper custom made one
There are plans for it

And 3 link in the rear
The frame isn't designed for double a arm rear and flaws rapidly appear

Also runs fuel tank behind the engine and run neef bars on the side
Far safer

When/ if u clip a tree u will loss a front wheel and then u will come to a sudden stop on thy those solid side tank mounts

This causes two things
Firstly u smash your face on the steering wheel
(But your wearing a helmet, still hurts)

And worse it'll twist up the frame

Nerf bars made of 30mm pipe bend and will u loate now down a cheap beef bar not a frame
Also it has acted as crumple zone

Lastly my short *** is 5ft 5 and I only just fit in a stock frame
But u can't spend any length of time in it
The man who designed these is 4ft 9 and all his buggies are designed to fit him

Mine is lengthened by a ft
Allows me to fit easy and put a 20lt fuel tank behind the seat

Also do t get too carryed away with progress
It's easy to miss simple stuff
And the frame is the easy bit
Wait till u start fanbing suspension components
Or worst of all wireing the whole thing up

With all the upgrades and a 600cc late model sports bike engine
These things make Polaris RZR 1000s look like mopeds
And the cam am equivilent
Well have they even finished the race yet

Oh trust me I know all about the weaknesses of this design. YES double A arms up front in the rear something Custom your just gonna have to wait. tank obvious to move it to inside the rear rollbar area engine I want reverse so Quad engine 5+1 reverse 250-500 cc anything bigger is just a waste of torque. Lengthened dam straight 200 mm widened 75 mm ground clearance increased. And so many other mods. But you'll just have to stay tuned to see what I'm gonna do, now won't you?

OK first I'm in Canada so getting metric tube is GODLY expensive so I went with 1.5 inch square 1.5 inch round and 1.25 square trust me this thing is heavy solid and pain in the *** to move. This being my second build of one of these. Lots of mods weight reduction strengthening of the frame total redesign in some areas. I've had all winter to think about this. As to being retired I wish, I'm fighting disability so money is limited. Its just a nicer way to say WELFARE BUM until the idiots in Toronto decide that yes my doctor has been telling the truth for the last 14 years and I am disabled. 2 fused disc 3 pins in hip and a leg that still feel like its broken at times. Was working in a scrap yard when a car came off the blocks and well I almost traded junk with it. Plus I have ADHD too so can't really do the same thing day in day out :roflol: Just seems to drive me crazy. But hey just because I'm low income and little bit crazy doesn't mean I can't have fun too. So as I get dressed for another fine spring day build I wonder to my self?

WTF was I thinking when i decided to build this?

Sings to himself "I'm not crazy, I'm just a little unwell, I know"

Good to see u did your research

u did promise loads of extras so were expecting something special :lolgoku:

I want reverse so Quad engine 5+1 reverse 250-500 cc anything bigger is just a waste of torque.

i would disagree tony (designer/edge owner) has rekomended anything under 500cc isn't worth it, but there plenty smaller ones kicking around and reverse would be very nice
dont forget it is going to weight around 4 to 500kgs

come drive some of the ones in the wa superlites club
but they race over distance and in sand

it would be great if u got a snow moblie engine in there
i havent seen an edge buggy with a cvt drive yet
and those drakarts are bloody quick

looking at importing a 1000cc rotax from over there somewhere
snow mobiles arent that common in aus
either that or a 13b-t but thats a bit of a mod

as for the injury
dam thats rough
sorry to hear

anyhow stop looking at the computer and get back to building :roflol:
