    What’s y’all’s favorite “garage music“?

Mostly rockabilly. Some Johnny Cash mixed in.

    420cc too much?

Keep the 420, eat some more cheeseburgers to help keep it on the ground. Maybe drop front tire pressure, or back off the front springs if it bounces too much.

    Questions about tires, 13"?

Yes they are. But they throw turf and drift like crazy in the yard! That particular kart will do donuts on concrete.

    Questions about tires, 13"?

@Functional Artist No sleeves, just a TON of rubber. @karl I have concluded that I will have to change rims.

    Questions about tires, 13"?

Running a commercial kart. They list them at 516 lbs. Currently running the 12 x 4.00 x 5 commercial slicks. These things are hard as a brick. With zero air pressure in them, I cannot get them to even bulge. Have made several laps in the grass with no air in them, they are brutal. Looking...

    good master links?

I have found pieces from 3 incidents. It appears that the clip takes off first then the plate, the link itself opens up. I have looked all over (but will do again) for any kind of marks where something could have hit, the backside of the driven clutch is the most likely part but no marks. Also...

    good master links?

@anderkart nice front engine dragster kart! I just noticed it. Growing up, my father bought and sold a ton of FED's. Anyways, I tried installing the clip both ways but I think that when it was installed correctly we had the chain too tight and misled us as to what direction it should be...

    good master links?

I finally got the 459cc on the cart. Have a 40 series CVT and it runs great! But it keeps blowing master links..... well when it gets traction. Running a TSC 40 series chain and link, then some links from local Ace Hardware. Who sells good master links? The TSC ones have only ever been...

    turque converter

I bet if marketed correctly, you could get good money for that old clutch. Bush trimming clutches are hard to come by these days. Something about fingers........

    Help identifying old engine

Thanks Russ! Now to figure out which one it is. Looks like a 404 (will check casting numbers in the morning when I get back to the shop.) which means 1.25 hp. So, now I need an old toboggin for a frame, and some 12-16" bicycle wheels........ a 10 tooth drive gear and about an 88 tooth driven...

    New Build - Taking Advice

Not to hi-jack the thread but you listed the top plate kit as recommended. I see that the kit you actually mention comes with accessories. Can you please enlighten me as to why everybody does to aftermarket top plates? Is it just for ease of installing mods?

Advice - Spider Carts Grand Daddy?

When cutting threads, every turn or so you turn back 1/4 to 1/2 turn. (Even more frequent when you first start) That breaks your chips so that they don't bind up on you. Every 'cut' is different, you will know when to break them you will feel it. If you don't break your threads, they can bind...

Advice - Spider Carts Grand Daddy?

Alex, that thing looks great!! The front spindles look like the current weak spot. I would run them until the go, but have a spare set ready. I am curious how your 420 will go. I just bought a 459 on a deal, $100 off. It is patiently waiting to go into a concession kart. (Darned work is...

    Methanol Oil???

Methanol 2 stroke? Seriously? That sounds fun! With as violent as methanol is, do they live long?

    Methanol Oil???

Go with a decent synthetic, and expect to change it regularly. From what I remember in dragsters, we changed every run because it would wash down pretty bad.

Advice - Spider Carts Grand Daddy?

As a blacksmith, farmer and general hack, please use 3/8" rod and thread it yourself. All-thread tends to be a weird alloy and break when any stress other than directly lateral is applied. TSC, Lowes, Home Depot all should have it. If possible do not get the galvanized, the cold rolled is...

    Murray Kilowatt Jackshaft Issue

ID is 3/4", I would guess that OD is 1 9/16" which is 1.5625" the difference of .0165" is what makes it a press fit. 1 37/64" gets you to 1.578125" 40mm gets you 1.5748"
