Rebuilding Yerf-Dog: Rusty brake and sprocket questions

Parts lists and diagrams are usually in the manual toward the middle. As far as disassembling the axle goes, it's not really anything complicated. You loosen allen nuts and go. However, when rusted they usually require a spray, heat, beat and repeat approach, hard not to damage components cause...

Rebuilding Yerf-Dog: Rusty brake and sprocket questions

Not a problem. Typically when they are as rusted as yours, you end up replacing most of it. Nice thing about yerfdog is the manuals/parts lists are still available online. BMI karts carries a lot of parts for that brand.

Rebuilding Yerf-Dog: Rusty brake and sprocket questions

You can remove the rust for cosmetic reasons to repaint. Then you can attempt to run it "as-is" (easiest/least expensive solution). However you may need the ability move the sprocket/brake freely on the shaft to align your engine, etc. It is very difficult to avoid damaging the parts when it is...

Help request anyone know anything about this kart? Just got it for my grandson and wondering if its worth rebuilding

I was referencing what an earlier post said about having to get the sprocket to the left side of the engine plate. It looks like an Azusa internal drum brake on the left and a conventional 1 piece 60 tooth on the right (so not sure about the differential?)

Also, be prepared on the old sprocket relocation. Those can be a bear to remove, so plan on things like axle bearings and a sprocket in your budget.

I haven't made up my mind yet, just hate waiting on "special" ordered parts. Quickest I'm able to get a 3/4 driver 3/4 driven 30 series is about 2 weeks

I just run 3/4 to 1" sleeve adapters on them, havent had a problem on past ones. This thing has a 3/4" jackshaft, they do make 30 series with that setup but they have a longer shipping lead time
