i was actually able to fix this problem by simply re-arranging the sprocket and driven unit around on the jack shaft :idea2:

hey i have a Comet series 30 if you are interested. Just cleaned it and it works fine.

I'm not sure if this will work because of the length of the engine shaft. I wouldn't want the driver unit to be held on by just a 1/4 inch on the shaft.
