what would be slower belt or a mower gear box?

i have heard the belt and pulley system work but ive also heard that you burn through more rubber belts than you do tyres!

I have 150cc vertical engine and need to make it horizontal what is the best way? i had an idea of using an angle grinder gearbox would this work?:confused:
