2021 Build Off - Cannibal Kart

Thanks guys! Chipping away. I got some throttle and brake cable mounting tabs welded up. Any tips for attaching the pedals to the cables? And adding a section of cable (brake cable is short by 3 inches)

2021 Build Off - Cannibal Kart

I should have this thing done by now.. but free time has been at a premium these days! Anyways.. I finished the aluminum underpan, wired up the killswitch and started running the throttle and brake cables. I'm working out the pedal stops and spring return system, also theres a bit of a fuel...

    Grand Daddyish build

Following! Sounds like a great build. I'm working on a similar but smaller build. Minus the 6 wheel and gunner seat :) More power might be nice. Especially in sand! Good luck to you, sir.

2021 Build Off - Cannibal Kart

Quick update! I cut out some plywood that will become the seat and backrest. I think I'm going to upholster it in some black fake leather over some thin foam. I moved the kill switch from the engine to the 'front dash' for easier access. Just gotta run some new wiring. I made up a template for...

It's looking really good so far! Nice job with the tube bending, it looks very legit. I really like the bender you made too. Keep it up!

2021 Build Off - Cannibal Kart

Got a little bit of free time today and decided to tackle the tie rods and pedals! Also, two seater conversion is all done!! Once more, the kart was back on the home garage alignment "machine" :) Tie rods worked out nicely and steering is nice and smooth. I left the toe in about 1/16" to...

2021 Build Off - Cannibal Kart

Thanks for the advice gegcorp! I managed to get all the angles working correctly and the roll bar actually turned out pretty good. I'm using mostly a chop saw and then an angle grinder for the really intricate cuts. Once you get the hang of working with square tube, it's not too difficult I...

2021 Build Off - Cannibal Kart

I took one look at the kart this morning and decided the asymmetrical roll cage looked really bad haha.. so I modified the passenger side rail to match the driver. Much better!! C'mon you guys gotta tell me when something looks dumb, you're my trusted gokart advice council :) Bansil, the...

2021 Build Off - Cannibal Kart

So after some thought, the kart will once again be undergoing some changes... the original goal of the kart was to be something I could ride with my kids, then ride with them as they learn to drive. So single seat isnt an option. It also turned out really fast, so not good for small kids on...

2021 Build Off - Cannibal Kart

Sorry for the late post.. we had our second kid so free time has been at a premium! I've had a little bit of time to tinker on the kart. I got the engine mounted and took it for the first test drive!! It was faster than I planned and probably not suitable for kids. Probably 50 to 60 kph. Oops...

2021 Build Off - Cannibal Kart

Got the tie rods installed, aligned the steering, and did a few soapbox hill tests! The steering is nice and smooth and very easy to turn. It also turns on a dime which is awesome. I'm planning to get the engine mounted up this weekend and will try to post a video of the first test run!

2021 Build Off - Cannibal Kart

2021 buildoff entry!! I started this kart at the very end of last year and most of the work has taken place in 2021. All of the build details can be found in my previous posts!

2021 Build Off - Cannibal Kart

Made some good progress on the tie rods today and finally assembled the torque converter. I got pretty lucky with chain path clearance around the rear frame rail... it's a pretty tight squeeze. Considering my initial design work didn't take into account a torque converter, I'd say it turned...

2021 Build Off - Cannibal Kart

Quick update! I had to do some modifications to the engine oil filler tube. The torque converter didn't fit correctly until I cut the oil filler down. I made a new 'low profile drain plug from the end of a 3/4" bolt. I wrapped it in nylon tape so hopefully it seals well! Also, I started working...

2021 Build Off - Cannibal Kart

Primer! Also test fitting the engine and torque converter. Looks like it's going to be tight but should have enough clearance.

2021 Build Off - Cannibal Kart

All welded up and ready for paint! Some of the welds turned out better than others.. it will be strong, but don't look too closely at the welds :) I'm going to use red oxide primer for now then ill let the kids pick a color someday when they're old enough. Next I'm going to clean up the rear...
