    Frame design

I changed up the gearing slightly. I have the 48T paired with a 13T for a 3.7 ratio. There is no noticeable difference in torque from the 10T I started with. It's still pretty good and kicks up some gravel. The speed calculator says top speed at 4500 RPM will be 58 mph. My GPS clocked me at...

    Sprocket, Clutch, Chain Advice

I have a Polaris ATV. It's belt driven and the belt is enclosed in a water tight compartment. I got water in it once, and it was completely useless until I had it dry again. I was thinking this must be a problem for all the guys using the torque converters on their trail buggy. I'm assuming most...

    Gas vs GassLess welding

If you have the option of using gas on your machine, that's great to have!!! Not sure if you know this or not...... If your machine is capable of using gas, it may be wired so that the gun is positive, and the ground clamp will be negative, as it should be for using gas. Flux core wire (gassles)...

I had to adjust the length of the rods, but it did not effect the radius. Lock to lock is 10 to 2. (clock face) I can do a u turn on the road using both lanes but not touching either shoulder. That's good enough for me.

    Frame design

I started out this kart project with visions of perfection and performance. Now I'm cutting and hacking and Jerry rigging parts together!!! I'm going to chalk this build up to "a learning experience" The next one can be perfect. Lol.

    Frame design

So I fixed my steering, a little bit. I extended the arms on my spindles from 2.5" to 5" long. The next issue with steering may be the steering wheel. I think I went a bit heavy on castor, and I don't have the leverage I need at the steering wheel. It's a 10" wheel. It's a lot more manageable...

    Gas vs GassLess welding

Gas shield is preferable. A wire wheel on a 4.5" grinder makes slag removal a breeze.

    Frame design

First "on the Pavement" run today. Steering is very stiff and extremely touchy!! Brakes are just a vague suggestion of stopping. Throttle ended up being hand control for now, but actually works pretty good. I started out with 4.8:1. Loads of torque. Spins and kicks gravel. I have no idea of...

    Throttle set up

Well I have just about had enough with this throttle issue!!! Made a couple silly mistakes due to trial and error. I believe the governor spring is causing problems. It takes a fair amount of force to get the lever to the full speed position, then it won't return to idle on its own. I needed to...

    No Weld Frame

If you are drilling hoes in thin wall tubing, or any thin steel, a step drill is a really good item to have. It doesn't grab and twist Luke a normal twist bit.

1’ clutch 420 chain tooth sizes?

You very well might be right! I havnt done enough hands on expirementing to say for certain. Calculations for speed with ratios alone is one thing, having the HP to make it happen is another. I can't imagine 4 teeth, or .32" of leverage, taking a cart from " not working" to "works awesome"...

1’ clutch 420 chain tooth sizes?

I'm curious how much of a difference the 10T will make in place of the 14T. Post your results!! There is less than. 3/8" difference on the radius of the sprocket. Just wondering how much if a leverage advantage that will be.

1’ clutch 420 chain tooth sizes?

What engine are you running,? Wheel size? Approximate weight of cart & driver?

    Welded hub sprockets

Well I went with the welding option. Lathe would of been better, but it's not as readily available as welding for me.
