    Yerf Dog 3203 light refurbishing

Thanks, me too! Stay tuned. Also here’s the engine on our makeshift stand next to the old one. Didn’t do much but bolt it down there but hopefully more this week.

This little number arrived today, along with the separately purchased hour meter in the picture. I’m sparing the internet another un boxing video but since this is a lesser known engine I will do a first start video of the motor on a stand I have, and then eventually a first start in the kart...

Edit - Tecumseh power sport for sale 6.5 hp

Some of you may have seen my other post on this Tecumseh for full disclosure, it runs awesome except over bumps OHH65 power sport 6.5 hp engine, 3/4” shaft. Asking $65 but considering serious offers for a local pickup. Engine has potential, hate to see it sit and go to waste. Located just...

Decided to pull the motor tonight. Only had a half hour so I had to stop before any more detail work. Guess you can’t eat an elephant all in one bite lol

Oh boy, I do that with my dad all the time. I’ve learned more over the last few years what my parents were going through when I was little I’d never have known then. All I knew is my dad was always finding ways to spend time with me with whatever I was working on. I’m trying to do that too.

I hope so! It’s a little nostalgic for me, my dad did this stuff with me, sometimes I can’t believe how time flies. We also have a 1 month old boy and I’ll be curious to see where his interests end up!

She’s one of my biggest motivators. I always wanted one of these to share with a kid who enjoys it, and she’s just that excited every time we bring it out. She is equally sad when it shuts off for any reason lol. She does give me little moments of focus with working on it which is fun too.

Tecumseh OHH65 cuts out over bumps

Had a feeling it had just been wollered out there. For the money I’ll get that only if I can get it to run right.

Getting some of the new parts from BMI painted. Certainly recommend them as far as quality of metal and welds, we’ll see how they fit when I get there.

Disconnected the kill wire at the little screw on the fan shroud. No change. Took it down the street and hit 31mph, not too bad ha. Honestly don’t want more than that for this machine. Did a whiz bang job of moving the fuel tank, and the green wire looks like it rubs real consistently on...

I’ve always been impressed with them over a standard clutch

Tecumseh OHH65 cuts out over bumps

When I take the engine off to replace the arm, I will do my best to go through the TAV system. Allegedly the previous owner replaced the driver pulley and belt, and the driver pulley does look cleaner than the driven, but the belt also looks like it has a tad much slop in it even thought the...

Tecumseh OHH65 cuts out over bumps

Oh, I didn't know they have different displacement blocks - that would make sense. So the 6.5 is a 196? And then it sounds like the engines as they came down the line were somewhat "modular" depending where they were going, including non gokart usees. I have a speedometer app on my phone and...

I agree. Yours looks a little cleaner than mine. Do you know what was different between the 5.0, 5.5, 6.0 and 6.5 hp versions? The one I had on my old Manco (Dingo-Rattler) was a 6.0 with a primer, and this Yerf Dog has a 6.5 with a choke. Not sure if that makes a difference either. Here's...

Tecumseh OHH65 cuts out over bumps

Ha, good to know! I haven't thrown in the towel just yet. I know they aren't the best engines in the world but I remember a lot of bikes/karts from years go that had them and they ran pretty good and have, at least to my ear, a decent stock sound to them.
