To me, it's gold! (eBay find)

I'd thought I'd share my find, maybe revive some lost hopes with it. Well I was searching eBay for an engine for my on-going minichopper project, and, to me, I hit go-kart gold (I'm planning to build a go-kart after I finish the minichopper). For only $46 and some cents, a 3-speed riding...

I think I may have come up with a working multi-gear transmission

Holy crap. Now I never said it would be cheap, but I think I may have it! Ok, to simplify things and not confuse y'all, think of this: (sprocket = sprkt) engine sprkt ---(chain)---secondary sprkt (tensioner) third sprkt ---(chain)--- axle sprkt...

    2 engines, one per wheel?

Would this be possible? I was thinking about go kart variations and trying to get more power, when I thought of putting a small engine (40-50cc) to drive one rear wheel, and another identical to drive the other rear wheel. Their throttle cables would connect to the same gas pedal (perhaps a dual...

    Choosing the right frame material

I know robert's bike was made of 3/4" pipe, but i don't have access to a pipe bender, so tubing is my only way. My question is, would 1/2" (or 3/4") alum. tubing work, or would it not be strong enough? And if alum. tubing is too weak, is copper tubing any stronger?

How do 2 speed Jackshafts work?

I found some one bmikarts.com http://www.bmikarts.com/shop/?shop=1&cart=354452&cat=1&itemid=355&&thumbval=thumb http://www.bmikarts.com/shop/?shop=1&cart=354452&cat=1&itemid=344&&thumbval=thumb How do these work? I haven't been able to find anything that explains how it works.

    RPM limit for Tecumseh engines

What would be a safe RPM limit for a tecumseh engine? I'm looking at http://www.smallenginewarehouse.com/product.asp?PN=H30MB&desc=Tecumseh+Engine+3+HP+Horizontal+3+4+x2+5+16+Keyed+Shaft+Recoil+Start+setup+for+minibike which is the same as...

    Choosing the right engine?

Well, I've found a place that sells a 49CC minibike engine for $100 + s/h. Will that be strong enough? here it is - http://www.giovannibikes.com/bikeparts.php

Turbo and gas turine go karts

This guy builds Gas Turbines for go karts! He's the same one that built the gokart that raced the 360 Modena. He also put a lombardini mini turbocharger onto a go kart engine. awesome... http://www.turbokart.com/turbo_exciter.htm#update3

    Another idea from my head

Why not a mini drag racer? The frame designs of today's drag racers are simple enough that one of us could make a miniature version with some tools and square tubing. Maybe a 15"-20" tire, with thin bicycle tires up front, and the engine in or nearly in the middle. I think I even vertical...

    And so it begins...

Well, last week I got my first parts in for my mini-chopper: 1. 4.5" brake assembly 2. 60t sprocket w/ incorporated 4.5" brake drum 3. 5" Tri-Star rims 4. Turf-saver tire (4" wide, 10.7" diameter) Think 10.7" is big enough for a mini chopper? I think the size is good, especially if I wanted...

    Alternative go kart?

Here's an idea. Someone should go for it. Build a go-kart. not too hard, eh? Here's the catch: Use a shopping cart as the frame. Know how people like to run and then jump and ride the shopping carts? Yeah, like that, except there's a seat popping out tyhe back. So you have the same view as if...

    Choosing the right engine; help

Well, I've narrowed my search to a 3Hp and 4hp Tecumseh engine. However, I noticed something that I don't fully understand: http://www.smallenginesuppliers.com/shop/agora.cgi?cart_id=4832715.9778*El0Cl6&p_id=00700&xm=on&ppinc=big It says it has a "manual throttle (No RV control)" What does...

    Building a mini-chopper; questions

A few things have been bothering me about the build of the bike, and I still can't figure them out. 1) How is the hub connected to the axle? 2) what is the function of a keyway? How is it used? I'm clueless why the axles have these. 3) Where are the bearings on your bike? and where do they go...
