    2021 - Vintage inspired Kart

Righto, postage has been really slow so I've had to wait a bit for some engine parts (rings, gaskets etc) but now the engine is basically ready to start testing. I've made a temporary exhaust and mounted the fuel tank ( I had to modify the fuel tank mount to make it higher so it's a bit...

Haha thanks hmmm should have thought of that:unsure: At the moment progress wise I'm just waiting on some parts for the engine... and have to figure out what to do for the exhaust. In the meantime I put together a little time lapse video of the go kart build :)

Alrighty, got the parts from my friend finally, and started putting them together... so the brake is all connected, since the line wasn't long enough I had to do this workaround solution using leftover tie rod. Right now it's pretty much done I just need to get the engine going and there's still...

    2021 - Vintage inspired Kart

Got a couple of small things done, drilled the holes for mounting the jackshaft, and put together a brake caliper mount. I've got a friend who made his own plasma cutting table and he's cutting some parts for me, including an engine mount, foot controls and base plate.

Big update! finished up the engine and jackshaft mounting parts, steering shaft support, and seat supports. In the last picture I put everything together that I could so far. The reason I'm using a jackshaft is I don't know how much power the engine will produce, it might not be much but if it...

thanks :) the OD of the pipe is 26.9mm (a bit over an inch). I built a pipe bender after the two cheap benders I got didn't work for me (one didn't have the right die size and the other was manual and couldn't bend it). Heres a little vid I made:

    2021 - Vintage inspired Kart

Minor update, I've put together most of the back part of the go kart. I also cut off the steering wheel support and started reworking it. Instead of welding the tube underneath the support I figured I could put it straight through, which I think is much nicer. My holesaw broke so I'll just notch...

It's similar to This one. Cheap meaning it's not expensive, it seems pretty solid though.

Steering: Done (y)... sort of I've made some crude attachments to hold the cheap steering rack on, cut the tie rods to length and made a steering shaft. Alignment is a little bit wonky at the moment so I'll probably cut the part of the frame that holds the steering shaft and try again.

    2021 - Vintage inspired Kart

In the last week I've bent the first part of the frame and attached the c bracket for the spindles. It can now stand on all four wheels. in the bottom picture you can see that my spindles are quite long, I'm thinking of either cutting a length out and welding it back shorter, or else if I can...

    2021 - Vintage inspired Kart

Howdy folks, It's been a while since I posted here but I'm about to build a go kart so thought I should post it here. It's going to be vintage-inspired in that the frame should have a vintage feel to it, as well as the engine. other than that seat, wheels etc won't really be vintage hence the...

    Bent axle?

Alright so yesterday I noticed my go karts axle is bent. The right wheel and sprocket both wobble slightly. Its a 1" axle and the question I have is is there too much distance between the wheel and bearing and could this have bent the axle. Or could the axle just be bad quality. (It was actually...

    Wheel hubs?

alright so I have a problem. I have some 145/70-6 wheels, and a 25mm axle. I have looked and I can't find anyone that sells a hub for these wheels and axle. The only hubs I have been able to find are for splined axles, like in the picture. so might need to make my own, but I have no way of...
