Modification to the kartfab.com build

Hey all.. so I was interested in building something very similar to what is done on https://kartfab.com/. The major difference being I definitely want a single seater. I was deciding whether or not it made sense to grab the full parts kit from here https://www.gopowersports.com/go-kart-kit-without-engine-frame-not-included

I would of course swap out the seat... but Im wondering if the narrowing of the seat (and potentially the kart frame width) would render any of the other parts in this package useless. I know that parts are specifically picked to fit that build.. so Im not sure if narrowing the cart.. or simply using a single seat.. would change anything enough to mean I have to change some other parts.

Also.. speaking of that parts kit.. is it generally a good deal? Does it make more sense to source parts on used marketplaces and do it piecemeal? Im assuming you can find better quality stuff but Im not sure of the cost/quality ratio of this set in particular.

The members on this forum will offer you a great deal of good info. I am no expert by any stretch but if you are not planning to use the seat in that kit I would think that's enough reason not to buy it. That seat probably represents about 1/3 the cost of the kit. Have you considered something like the frame below?

Probably not any cheaper to go this way but you get to pick the parts you feel are catered more to your desired outcome. Even if you mod the frame somehow you still wouldn't have to engineer the whole thing. Also it looks like that kit includes some very "basic" parts like the brake and clutch that you may not find adequate as you learn more about how your kart functions.

Just my opinion, others will offer good incites I'm sure. Good luck..........

Hey thats a good point.. the seat isnt cheap. That frame is cool.. but I did want to have a go at welding my own. Im thinking I may just use that parts list as a good requirement list.. and just pick my own parts from locals sales and online.
