Like I said, I haven't messed around with tillotson carbs and have no idea. All I know is that some are adjustable. Maybe try on the vintage sled forums

Does anyone know how to remove carbon off of engine parts
Try soaking in degreaser for a few days, dremel wire, and then carb cleaner.

Soda blast them.

What flavor soda???? ....and how long do you shake the can?????
That's about the only way I could do it..![]()
Its best to use washing soda and if you can find it in a can. You can shake it you all want. Some where around here I have instructions on how to make a soda blasting outfit on the cheap. If I can find it I will post it. Of course you have a air compressor.

No.....but...I'm a blowhard....JK.....
EDIT: BTW: I ran across a similar problem.....with an electrolysis rust removal system....couldn't find the recommended soda washing stuff....guess they've went the way of honest women and dinosaurs...
I wouldn't paint the fins. It will reduce their ability to transfer the heat from the engine to the air.
We have plenty of Amish around here, so washing soda is ready available. If you can not find washing soda, use baking soda. Still looking for the soda blaster instructions. One thing about either, they are biodegradable and non-toxic.
Found the instructions. aircooledtech.com/tools-on-cheap/soda blaster.
Not working....
