You don't need a clone engine. Here you can buy an ex-postie Honda CT-110 postie-bike (if you can find a statutory write-off at an auction) for around $50-$100. For that you get a 7.5hp 4-stroke engine with centrifugal clutch AND 4-speed gearbox. You also get the brakes from the bike, throttle cables, chain, sprockets, lights, battery, etc.

^ They're the auction houses, pickles is the best bet for CT-110 bikes.

Clones are terrible compared to CT-110's!

But in answer to your question, the only place you can find them cheaply here is ebay AFAIK. (But get a CT-110)

Wait so I payed $250 each for my posties when I could have gotton one from the auctions for $100, goddam it!

The bikes I got were unrideable, frames were bent.

I was at an auction buying my GS-500F when I saw that they had at least a hundred postie bikes being auctioned before it. I stayed and watched, the statutory write-off's where the frame is bent all went for between $50 and $150. I was tempted to buy one but didn't have a use for it.

I presume you bought from a wrecker? Since the wreckers get them from auctions its no wonder they're cheaper there. I won't ever buy a bike engine from a wrecker since the auctions are just so much better and cheaper.

I bought my GS-500F for a grand, and have sold some of the parts so it now owes me $350. I should be able to get it down to $0 with a bit of effort. 2007 model with 9,500k's.

My engine cost me $350 and now has ~55hp, it also came with disc brakes, sprockets, chain, lights, mirrors, battery...
There are bargains to be had here, too.
