throttle assembly for a clone enging

Need some help locating a throttle assembly to allow for gas pedal. We purchased a Greyhound (Harbor Freight) 6.5 engine to replace a tired B & S on my son's ga-cart. He has the engine mounted, sprockets aligned but can't figure out how to mount the throttle cable to the carburator. Is the a part, if so where can we purchase? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I completely removed the governor plate and created my own arm for the carb linkage to go to, a bolt in the middle, and the gas pedal attachment on the other end. I also have a spring from the gas pedal wire hole to the airbox to return the throttle.

If you work close enough towards the airbox, you can place some bolts up through the recoil/flywheel housing, while avoiding contact with the flywheel. Just drill a hole, loctite a bolt&nut through, and place on your linkage arm and you'll be set.

Other people have made the stock governor plate and sliding throttle assembly work for them but I just ripped the whole thing off to start fresh.

Very easy to make.

Just reuse the governor arm and the longer rod. Drill a hole to bolt the arm to the cover and add a return spring.

I used my stock yerf dog throttle linkage. All I did was drill a small hole through the barraled end of the cable and slipped it throught the throttle linkage on the Harbor freight motor. I loosened the nut on the engine throttle because it would stick if I didn't. I used a cotter key to keep the barrelled throttle cable from coming out. Works as good as any factory set-up. All I had to do was remove the air cleaner and muffler for easy access.

One thing about the yerf dog pedal is at the end of the linkage is also has a spring which returns the pedal to its original position.

Works pretty slick.

i just cant get my barrel end of throttle cable to go into the hole, any advice would be appreciated. The part to hold down throttle cable can be bought at ur local lawnmower place. i got mine for $0.80 good luck

that is pretty much what mine looks like. I drilled a small hole in the bottom of the barrel, and then stuck the top of the barrel partly down through the hole (only 1/2 goes through since the cable is in the middle) and then just put a clip on the bottom side of the barrel (under the linkage) through the hole I drilled. After that, I adjusted the nut that the lever is on. I also used the exact same clamp to hold the cable from slipping.

If I wasn't an hour away, I would go and snap some photos right now. I will try and get some up in a few weeks. I have been working on the cart in my dads shop on the weekends.

I am not sure how he got the barrel part down trough the hole!! I tried that and even considered modifying the hole, but all in all this works perfect and it doesn't put a sharp curve on the cable.

what size drill bit did you use to make hole i have some small bits but i am indecisive b/c i don't want to mess up barrelpart and about the clamp to hold throttle what type of bolt did you use, a self drilling or a bolt and nut combo thanks in advance

I am not sure what size of bit. The smallest size in my dewalt set. For the clamp piece: I used a screw w/ a washer and a nut on the bottom and used the factory hole that was there.

I used a small pointed center punch to make sure I didn't mess up the barrell end by wondering off on the drill press. It was pretty simple deal. If you do mess it up, you can buy the same throttle linkage at just about any store for like $7-8
