Default nordic trac motor?

Howdy folks,
I found your forum today and ripped thru all the electric project threads... I aim to make a little "tractor" kart for my 6-yr old to drive on our very bumpy dirt road... maybe I'll use an old ATC frame or maybe weld up something simple and make my axles (have a good gearing shop nearby)....

I took apart a Nordic Trac and happy to see a 12Vdc motor that looks like a good trike/tractor motor. Anyone out there ever work with these motors?

peace, porch
(my wife calls me that cuz I'd rather be outside...)

Default ? ?

are you replying to me re the nordic trac motor?
Its not AC, it is DC, 1-100V, 1-2hp... I can look for amperage, or try to test it on bench... or take foto of it...

Default sorry slow

working much, little play time...
I will take foto of motor asap. I did write down specs on the case, so I know it is DC and 0-100volts...
there is a website where the guy makes wind generators out of this same motor, pretty cool, and the motor I have loooks identical to the one in this foto: http://www.velacreations.com/makechispito.html

today I acquired an electric wheelchair ! wahoo ! two motors, 3.6mph (per maunual) and a joystick.... hmmm, if I jsut change to 16" knobby air tires, that should bring speed up to 5mph, and I could make a very cool little tractor out of these parts... tonite I will sip a beer and draw some ideas in the garage (my idea of a good time, he he)

back at ya soon, and thanks hippie mike!

Default the nordic trac motor

finally able to foto the nordic trac motor.
attaching foto as you requested...
on the wiring diagram for the trac unit, it says this motor runs on 1-100VDC, and I see no RPM rating... I guess it would be good to find out! I was hoping someone had already done what I hope to do. oh well, he he... any help is good help!
peace, Jp
