I have found two on craigslist in the past week one was a 100cc yamaha 2-stroke for $550 but that already sold.

The one Im looking at now has a 9hp tecumseh 4 stroke for $500

About 2 years ago I purchased a yard kart kit.
I looked for least expensive one I could find. When all was said and done, final price was about $540 w/o engine.
If you can find a complete running "race kart" for $500, be very suspicious and wary. A KT100 alone sells for several hundred in used condition. External starter for this runs around $200 to $300.

I dont plan on racing it stock either, I just want something that I can drive around and have fun with and then gradually upgrade/improve it. I just cant afford to buy a full blown racing kart all at once. I just gotta work my way there little by little.

I just purchased one of these. Everything included except clutch and power plant.
Twin 2 cycles is what I plan on using to power it.
Some mods to frame will have to be made but is otherwise just what the doctor ordered.

Let me know if link does not work.
