Default What should i do with weed eater motor?

SOMEONE put gas in a 50:1 mixture and broke the port side of the piston and cracked the rod. So i went to the Echo srote and bought a new piston gaskets rod and rings, just put them in and broke the engine in just to do it. Now I'm stuck... What to put it in? its a 31cc Echo and i think it produces about 1 hp. I want something neat and useful, any sugestions?

You could make an RC car, you could rig it to fling some sort of projectile. Just some suggestions.

Actually, the rc car has been on my mind.
I have an old traxxas revo 3.3, i wore the piston out a few times and each re build is around 80$ a peice, and a re build lasts maybe 35 hours. so ya, I wanted to try to hook this up. but i need a clutch and i dont know where to get one at with gears on it

Not at all. People building RC planes use them all the time. The favorite one for them to use is the 31cc Ryobi weedeater

35 hours on a traxxas motor is good.
They dont use rings, and i dont think they even use a cast iron sleeve. They do it so you can keep buying their pistons and rods so they can make more money!

AGREED! One of my back-burner projects is a scratchbuilt R/C airboat. During the course of my research, I came across a LOT of info on the use of Ryobi-power in R/C airplanes.Homelite, too. It is very commonly done, and there is good aftermarket support.

My project plan calls for the use of a little .21 glow engine, but as I have a few weedies sitting around unused, I was exploring the idea of using one to power a larger scale airboat.

Or you could attach it to your recliner so it will automatically recline.

Would you believe that in the 1930's, there were Briggs gas-powered washing machines? True fact! Kick start, even!
