I like the roll cage but I think it could use some reinforcing. put some triangle / X shaped crossbars on the top.

something kinda like this...just food for thought.

I agree that it will need some crossbars for reinforcing. You also need to get a safety belt on that thing

Nice work though

I 100% agree. The "quick cage" was done more for cosmetics, in an effort to sell it faster. But I think my conscience will get the best of me and I'll be throwing the reinforcements on.

Some padding for the roll cage...

Was also having trouble with the 40 chain kinking up and the master link hitting the clutch in a bad way - till the chain finally separated at some point and came undone. Bought a 41 chain, made a world of difference (10 feet of it for $20 at Tractor Supply, versus $10 + shipping for 70 links at BMIkart.com, not recommended). Nice and smooth now.

I received the rear axle, big tires, brake caliper, and 60 tooth sprocket for free with a previous kart I had purchased. Between metal, BMIkarts.com, MFGsupply.com, Home Depot, Tractor Supply, Harbor Freight... I'd say I've got about $380 into it, including welding wire/grinding discs/etc.

Thats not bad at all, and the kart looks good too. I hope you prepared the $600 price tag with some haggle room though.

Oh, and I have been meaning to ask where in Lansing you live, my mom grew up on Seymour Street in Lansing and a few of my uncles live around there.

yes sir! for sale for $220 with a good running 151cc Kawasaki motor in it. leaks a little gas from the carb if you lean it to the right, and the footpegs are a little low (scrape the road a lot when you turn, but an easy fix). comes complete with bungie cord to strap the gas tank to the frame! lol.

i did the governor bypass trick on the mini-bike, replacing the spring with a straight piece of coat hanger wire. thing goes 30+ mph with me on it. yee-haw! figured it's a Kawasaki - it can take it!

I'm on the west side of Lansing, near Home Depot, about 2 miles east of the Lansing Mall.
