well it wasnt rusted, but i sanded it with rough grit. i did use metal ready. it came off just holding it into the bench grinder for a split second.

however there was a small spot that i hit with the angle grinder at one time, before i painted it that bit of paint will not come off at all.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Yah it touchy stuff for sure. Best to let rust for a week and then medal ready and paint. It really does need some rust for best results.

Also the best for gas tanks and places you spill fuel. Gas will not effect por15 at all. If you put por15 on right it will laugh at a standard 6" grinding wheel. Try to paint por15 when it is raining outside. I aso had it fail when it was to cold.

lol not much just some more pics. i spent today hanging around and then at night cleaned up the shop. one of the worst things was scrubbing off 1/4" thick of sludge out of my utility sink that i use as a parts washer... you can only imagine how clean my nails were after that

also in some of these pics you get a glimpse of a bike i built the day before... my friend wants to ride with us in the spring and i had a ton of parts and scrap metal (bed frame lol) so just made it up as i went and its done. ugly AF but as long as its somewhat safe and works good my friend can come along riding...

i really broke the bank on this one.. got a sealed AGM battery, (glass mat) it is safe at any angle, will never spill acid, and vibrations or rough terrain wont affect it.

price difference... not much, so i got it..

Nice batter box there, what happened to the other one? Chopped up already, or is it just welded to the kart?

Some pretty major frame modification there, turned out nice though!

Are you going to use a 30 series on that 10hp(?) engine? If so I wish you luck; let us know how it turns out!

I would make a better hold down for your battery. The bungy will not hold it good.

Here is what I did for the top on my ody. Pretty simple and will stay in the box during a roll over.

If your battery vibrates alot you may want to add a bar under the box down to your frame to stop the vibrating.

Nice work man it's going along nice. Love the winters.

I was going to suggest a setup exactly like this. Otherwise that battery is going to flop right out of there with a bungie strap.

good idea on the box, i was going to make a bar like that but maybe im just getting lazy haha. i held the box upside down and shook it and the battery didnt budge at all. its pretty light. first i will just try more bungee cords, if that doesnt do it then i guess i can make a bar.

the pics from yesterday

almost got my finger! scared the sh!t outta me

going to do some more welding and clean up the frame, by a miracle it will be primed today

Looking good, can't wait to see this thing up and running. One word of warning though, don't use gloves on a bench grinder, makes it much more likely that your hand will get sucked in. You should also replace that grinding wheel.

oops.... metal can be sharp right???!?

some new jelly.

it is now sitting in the old garage- that my parents converted into a room before i was born it will be put together here than taken out the door and maybe a test run tomorrow!

it still needs the front fender stripped and re painted, the torque converter sprocket and driven pulley shimmed to the right spot, the brakes set up, the electrical zip tied, and the throttle hooked up. i dont have an air filter yet. not too worried. its january BUT it is going to be 50 degrees tomorrow. crazy but im good with it, ill ride any distance as long as the temperature is anything above freezing. below that and there will be snow and ice, im not allowed to ride then.

i guess i will keep using this bike the way i used it before. i want to push the limits... not polish it up and bring it to shows. itll get muddy. but for now i am only focused on putting it together.

later in life i predict i will take it apart again and (using everything i learned about the HM100 and rest of the bike/design) make it neater. the MAIN part of the frame is stock, factory, meaning the steering angle, bottom tubes, engine plate and wheel allignment. this part of the bike is 100% solid and straight. the work i did aint pretty, but it will do the job.

also one reason i can be more confident without sleeving the tubes is because that specific part of the bike is getting COMPRESSED, not side to side stress or apart. the 2 pieces of tube literally get the stress pushed inward on the weld.

haha, i hope so. it is so heavy but should have crazy torque, almost double than before. i could have done a better job on it but oh well, its good enough, the main parts are there to make it BA. even if the top frame rails are slightly crooked, whose looking?

tomorrow i am running it... WOW. 50 degrees in january sounds good to me. its usually 10-20 degrees this time of year

It just me or is the rear fender mounted backwards? Or was this intentional?
