.035" is pretty much too big a wire for that type material, no wonder you're having such a hard time. Try some .030",

035 is fine, he's having a hard time because he needs practice.

.035 is a little thick for that size material. Not saying it won't work, but he'll have an easier time with .030,or even .023,
I use .030 in my machine for everything, if I did a lot of 1/4~5/16 or thicker, I'd use .035,

Your material can't be that thick, probably 1/8" or 3/16", I don't think they even make it in 1/4". I promise ya, you'll have a much easier time with .030" wire, trust me.

I weld at work all day and we use .35 wire on everything we do anywhere from 10g to quarter inch steel. The way i do it is start the weld, build a puddle, then go forward a little bit then go back on the weld, then forward agein, and work the puddle in the direction your welding. Its strong and looks good. You can do circles but in tricky spots its impossible. You want the weld to look like a roll of nickles laying on the side. Nice even welds.

Gun should be angled the other way for better penetration, i.e you should be pushing the puddle along. Pulling makes a nicer looking bead but pushing is the proper way to do it.

Yea i no you never said anything negative but both of the examples are just to show a strong and even weld bead. I understand if one might be a different type of welding or if the guy is not holding the gun right. All the pictures were just to show a bead. And im not all bent outta shape or anything just trying to help.
