Default hey guys help me figure out what i have

i was gifted and older go kart that wasnt running. Fixed the steering, cleaned the carb, and fixed the throttle linkage and its screaming. its a small plan jane hard tail go cart with a honda gx160.i know nothing about these things but going up a 10% grade with me (250LBS) it hit 30 miles per hour which felt way to much for that frame. Do this sound stock or like it has had mods

Welcome to the forum!

Post some pics of the kart and engine so that we can see what you have. Also post the tyre height (diameter) as well as the axle sprocket and clutch tooth count. This will give us some idea on how your kart is geared.

You might find that the governor has been removed from the engine and that is why it sounds like it is revving high

Generally bypassing the governor is a bad thing as it can blow up if you rev it too much, but some people run their bypassed engines like crazy and never have any problems. And as Doc Sprocket once said
