Default 28mm alcohol flat slide on a Briggs for under $100

https://youtu.be/0sxl0rFPtrE
So the tillotson on my Briggs was garbage so I needed a new carb. I got a 28mm pwk flat slide on amazon for $28, made an intake for $4, and spent $47 at my local motorcycle shop for a throttle cable, air filter, and clamps.
Im still learning how to edit video, so any feedback is appreciated.

Thats pretty cool... having a bit of lawn to actually giver a good rip... Nice...
I like the reverb effect on decel with the long exhaust.... sounds cool....

So what actually is the fuel used... Methyl hydrate... the stuff from the hardware store... or is it like a mix with ethyl and meth???
Im not familliar with alky fuels in motorsports......

Impressed to see such a suitable water pipe fitting with a smooth inner transition. Looks like the outer ribbing was designed to hold a rubber hose, but it's on the wrong end.
In other words, those ribs would've been cool to have on the end that mates with the carb's rubber boot/coupler.

Good job on the fabrication--very tidy and professional looking.

Did you consider making the manifold level with the ground (since the engine is installed on a 15 mount)? The reason I ask is because it's a float carb.

All in all, well done.

I don’t remember what the tube that the main jet screws into looks like but I know it is removable. Some times when trying to get the main jet out of those carbs, the whole piece starts to unscrew. I’m just wondering if that needs to be drill out any bigger. I know people like to drill out the emulsion tube in Honda/Clone/Predator Carbs when converting to Alky. The tube might be large bore already. Like I mentioned, I don’t remember what it looks like.

And are you using the power jet? I cap mine off, but with Methanol you might need the extra fuel at full throttle. I’ve never tried to tune one on gas using the power jet. I haven’t found replacement jets for the power jet. (I suppose a set screw could be made into a jet.) And my initial research told me that with 4 strokes on gas, the power jet made it too rich at full throttle. Tuning with the power jet to get the mixture right at full throttle left it lean at 3/4 throttle. Tuning to get the mixture right at 3/4 throttle made it rich at full throttle. Anyway, the research was enough of a deterrent so I never even tried to tune with the power jet.

If you can wait a few weeks for shipping from China, you can usually find them for under $20.
Aliexpress usually has these as well. Pretty much the same listed as OKO, KOSO, PWK, Keihin...

Good video. Like the adapter.

The fuel is VP M1 methanol, it would’ve been nice to have had the barb fitting on the carb side to help hold the coupler on, but it had a nice transition so I took what I could get.
I did think about making it level to the ground, but it seems to be fine, so I’m not going to worry about it.
I left the power jet as it was. We race, so it’s basically on or off the throttle, so I’d probably never notice a rich spot before wide open. I did feel around with the throttle when I was riding it and it seems to be pretty good everywhere except idle. Methanol is pretty forgiving or a rich mixture though.
