Default Briggs 5hp Fun Power

First let me say I am sorry, this is probably somewhere else in the forums but I am new to all of this and need help. I got this engine and thought I could make it work. I bought a new carb and, well I tried. Please take a look at the pictures and if you are willing tell me what I need and what i have messed up. The model is 136212. I can't make out the other numbers other than the code (third number) 961022YB. I hope someone has a diagram or something to help me.

What IS the problem?
It's hard to tell you how to fix a problem that you haven't told us about...

---------- Post added at 06:50 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:46 PM ----------

FYI the codes that you posted mean that:
136212: 13(ci)6(design series)2(horizontal shaft)1(plain bearing, flange mount)2(rewind starter).
Next:
961022YB: Built on September 22nd, 1996, at manufacturing line and plant YB(I don't know what it means either).

So yeah, please elaborate on the problem.

Sorry for the mis communication. As I said in my post I bought a carb for it and tried to install and got stuck. The pictures are where I am currently at. What do I need and what am I missing to get the carb connected properly?

FYI I can give you a link to a GREAT parts lookup tool, but you actually haven't given us the whole model number.
The format involves three numbers(I will use my numbers as an example)
Model#:132432
Type#:-0227-01
Serial Code#:XXXXXXXX(Can't remember mine at the moment.
Please find the type number, because then I can help you find parts and diagrams.

I wish I could. The code you are asking for is completely damaged and unreadable. I can take a picture when I get home and post it. Maybe some will be able to read it.

Ok, I'll try to see if I can find anything.
Either way, the second number mostly just specifies details about the engine like color, etc.
Please post a pic of the codes!
P.S - I really love Briggs flatheads.

Does it turn over? If it does take out the sparkplug and see if you can feel the compression

Check fuel lines.

Just a few things to start with..

This should be what you need.

133212-0526-A1 the numbers off your motor. I just took the ones you could read and compared it to the briggs list and narrowed it down to that.

there's the L-head manual that that is very much complete
http://www.tuks.nl/WFCProject/img/En...ual-L-Head.pdf

unfortunately it's also cluttered with a ton of different carbs differend linkages to those and worse a similar amount of governor plates and their respective linkages.
Since I can't see the governor plate on the pics at all
either the tank or the kart has to be removed in order to take a peek

I can only assure: it's in there somewhere

Wrong carb.
112202 series?
That's for an 11 cubic inch displacement engine.
Take that carb off, and I'll try to find a link to the proper one.

---------- Post added at 03:01 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:58 PM ----------

Here's one on Ebay for ~$20: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Carburetor-...ss!76015!US!-1

I'm surprised you didn't scream MIKUNI 22MM!!!!

Did you also notice the carb you sent was listed as both a 13ci and 11ci carb. I think they are the same given both numbers are listed.

Another resource: https://outdoorpowerdirect.com/pages/partslookup
Excellent parts lookup tool for Briggs and more! I always use it.

Isn't the engine a 133212-0526-A1? so 133212 series?

---------- Post added at 04:12 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:11 PM ----------

Too bad they don't sell complete linkage kits/spring kits.

133212 is a specific engine model, not a series.
For Briggs, your engine series would be 133000, for example.
