Default axle extenders?

I searched this forum and found the thread at http://www.diygokarts.com/vb/showthr...=axle+extender where someone made some kind of an adapter for motor shaft. The rear axles on a Pride Elite Traveler Plus are 3/4" in diameter but distance from "collar" on the axle to the end of the axle is about 1-3/4", too short for wheel hubs usually used on go-kart. Is it possible to make an adapter? Is it possible to cut wheel hubs?

Both of them are bad ideas; solid axles are one piece for a reason, and that's safety. Add in the fact that no one offer's them (for the same reason), and you're left with trying to get a shop to make them for you. That costs money. Almost guaranteed to cost more than a new axle, if you could find a shop even willing to do the job. Liability exposure is always near the top of the list with small shops.

Look at it this way; which is cheaper,a new axle shaft,or.the medical bills you'd likely be up against if something went wrong?
