Default hi im alan and i want to build a cheap kart

hey my names alan and im from the uk got a bigish garden and love all things with an engine

wanting to build a cheap kart i have an arc welder (never used it lol)

cheap is my main focus as i really just want to learn a bit about frabrication
any tips or advice

i was wondering it it was worth using a 50cc scooter engine as these have no gears (centrifrugal clutch) and a belt drive direct to one wheel although to be honest i would prefer to use a live axle as i love to go sideways

also would like it to fit my 7 and 6 year old and be safe for them

Alan

the best thing for me when i want to build cheap, is to buy an old child's go kart frame (usually $30-$80) and just weld some better support bars to it and build up from there.

welcome to the site!
