Default 16 hp Briggs v-twin help

I’m trying to get my lawn tractor going (bought it super cheap, mostly for the tiller body behind it) 16 hp v-twin on the tractor. I did a compression test, got about 60 psi per cylinder. Currently has no spark, I’m thinking probably needs points and condenser? Anyone know if there’s a drop on solid state coil I can get? Eventually planning to put the tiller on a different tractor that is hydraulic drive, but I need to get the hydraulic pump rebuilt first.

doubt that engine has points, unplug kill wire from coil to confirm coil is bad. if so replace.

It's the only other wire coming off the magneto besides the plug wire.

Tiller looks like it's meant to have its own engine powering it... Do you have something else you could pull it with until you get this tractor running?

Yes, I plan to put it in a different tractor eventually. The tractor I want to put it on is kinda a home built monstrosity. 11 hp Honda motor with a generator to start it, has a flex joint to with a shaft to the rear where thereís a chain that drives a hydraulic pump. From there it has a variable valve (forward, reverse) and a hydraulic motor which chain drives a cut down differential out of a chevette. The hydraulic pump needs rebuilding, so I figured Iíd use it on this tractor for now. Iíve got a 13 hp clone I plan to put on the tiller.

Well, pulled the cover off and disconnected the wire. Tried swapping a different ignition switch into it and trying a different plug too. Still no spark. Iím going to order a new coil. Iíll get a motor on the tiller and get it working in the meantime. Hopefully in a week or two Iíll be up and going!

Pulled the flywheel tonight, low and behold, found breaker points (not exactly under the flywheel, but would be difficult to work on with the engine in the tractor) anyway, hopefully I can get in touch with my local parts place and get a set of new points and condenser, set them, and put it all back together.
