I picked up an old 70s kart made by bird engineering in Fremont Nebraska.

Not trying to be a mod here(lookin' at you, 'sid!), but this is the WRONG subforum for this question.
I know you're new, but I wish new members would put some time into selecting the best subforum to ask their questions.

Now that my frustration has vented:

I am big on anything made by Bird Engineering, but I have never seen your kart.
It's kinda like a big mashup of the Bird Baja and the Starbird like mine. Front bumper is like a Starbird, as well as the scrub brakes and the one(?) pedal.
The steering hoop and bar, the hand controls, and the big tires are very reminiscent of a Baja, but I've never seen a Bird bodied like that.
It looks to me like someone partially converted it to foot control.
As far as build date, 70s is about as precise as you'll get.
Value? Dunno. In some places of the world that thing may fetch upwards of $500, and in some places you'd be lucky to get $300.
Does it have an engine? Let's see some pics of it with the body off and at different angles.
Looks a bit like a Muskin Dune Cat, but it's certainly not.

Jeez kids...

Okay, it's a close sibling to the well known funderbird..
and that self proclaimed "local Bird engineering nut" JT hasn't seen one sheds some 'dimmed' lighting on his expertise I'd say

Anywho, it's just called Penneys Micro Buggy I'm afraid
(as you can tell specifically made for JC Penney and they don't seem to care much about fancy names I guess)
I'd a Mid seventies kart that originally came with a four horse tecumseh.

I'd say in good condition it can easily yield a pretty penney (excuse the pun)
the Muskin DuneCats are thought after and so are the Ruppster
and even Funderbids ...
certainly a few hundred dollars if in good condition I guess

Thanks guys, it came with a four horse Tecumseh. I got the motor running but put a new 212 preditor motor and clutch on it. It does run good and is taking a lot of space up in the shed. Thinking some lucky kid might wind up with it.

If we weren't a ways apart, and I don't have much money, and my parents won't let me get another project, I'd love to buy it, but oh well.
Glad it's running!

slap the tecumseh back on if you can..
(or at least keep it with the kart)
original is always better than cheapest possible chinese replacement when it comes to selling things

Default Looking for information

Thanks for the replies. I have the original motor and it runs. It will go up for sale if anyone is interested in it. Shoot me an offer worst I can say is no. I would prefer local pick up.
