Default Air filter size for Tecumseh 6.5hp

I read somewhere on here that a larger air filter is better but Iím not sure how large is too large. So if anyone has any recommendations thatíd be great.

Too big wont hurt anything, just looks stupid. Bigger air filter will only help as a supporting modification (exhaust, jetting, porting, valve work etc). will generally have zero effect on a stock engine.

Thx, does anybody know of a cheapish air filter that has the foam over it? Iíve heard they are better for performance and figured Iíd get a good one since I donít have one atm.

Check out Uni pod filters, they have them on ebay, amazon etc. many sizes, clamp on relatively cheap. you will need to make/buy an adapter to use one with your tecumseh though.

http://www.bmikarts.com/Angled-Fabri...all_p_455.html

With Foam PRe-Filter
https://www.ebay.com/itm/CLONE-GX200...sAAOSws65TparL

but it says the adapter is out of stock. Does the engine have the long bent manifold like I had on my Teckasheema 5.0?

Or

with
https://www.ebay.com/itm/32MM-AIR-FI...-/190883639181
or any of these.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/S-B-USA-Rou...ss!60803!US!-1
https://www.walmart.com/ip/Air-Filte...&wl13=&veh=sem

One adapter uses a 1.25" filter (32mm)
One adapter uses a 2 7/16" filter (62mm)
Check the bolt spacing you need to verify those adapters will fit.

Search Air Pod, Or Air Filter, .... and type in what ever size you need.

just get the $20 ebay special: PZ22 carburetor 22mm. bolts right up and has an air filter. Use air filter oil on the air filter and you will be fine.

The bent thing between the carb and the motor? Yes.

At first I was going to get a 52mm filter and then machine an adapter if I had time. First comes the swing arm then the adapter or something. I mean I can always buy an adapter.

Thanks for all the suggestions.

I saw that in another post and was considering it. I ran into a problem though, I had an extra motor cycle brake cable from another project and had to put that on for the throttle.

So Iíd probably have to get a new cable too.

I was thinking about getting the HS40 carburetor.

The PZ22 is a direct bolt-on replacement for the Tec OHV stuff? It bolts onto the manifold?
I had no idea.
