Default Predator 301 Cam

Anyone ran the 275 cam from go power sports in a Predator 301 with a .16 head gasket I was wondering if I’d run into clearance issues between the pistons and valves

Oh bill! Ill take the bait

The gaskets copper right? those are reusable.

You can get the gasket , roll it over with clay to check clearance, and see what your dealing with/get you in the ballpark, before you invest in a cam. Stock lift is .250?

It is good practice to manually check valve clearance, not something you want to only calculate or assume.

Also you might want to measure the cam journal, this is what nr racing says

Quote:
some 301 Predators, 414 LCT, and other Big Block with large Cam Journals (.6365") . Note: Not all 301's have the big journals. We recommend you measure your cam journals before ordering this. No returns on these.

Ok Bill, what do you need.

I have a hemi 301 apart on my bench now I'm hopping up.

A quick cam lift I measured crudely was .220 on the tappet. Not sure if the rocker is a 1:1 or not. I'll find that out today.

Stock gasket was .040

Piston is definitely in the hole so you got some clearance there.

I'll try some clay and get a valve to head clearance for ya too.

Iím running the gasket now with the Governor removed and 50lbs valve springs and gx340 carb pretty noticeable difference I was thinking of adding that cam and 65 pound springs to see if I can get more!

But I appreciate any help I just love to play with my kart and see how much of a difference every little change makes!

And how much tolerance would be a good idea to leave yourself for clearance?
