Main problem I see is 'max input 2000 RPM'.
It's designed for tractors. But then again with 4 speeds you could make decent speed.

Nope.. no speed at all!

I mean really.. lowest available gear is 68:1 or such (no that's not a typo)
and highest ~14:1
and with the maximum allowed wheels (20") and max allowed 2k rpm
we talk 8.5 mph or such

next big issue:
it's meant to take a vertical shaft engine's CLUTCHED input from a V belt pulley
and as that the input shaft is 90 off the orientation you would need it to be..

so you'd have to mount the transaxle rotated along the axle by 90 to get the input shaft horizontal,
then rotate the engine 90 to line up the engine shaft with that.

all to install a manual clutch for hundredplus bucks
only to find out that those gears are NOT synced and it'll not shift too well on the fly
(it wants to be shifted when standing still)

So yeah...
terrible idea to install that on a go kart IMHO

PS there's the smaller 700 series with much nicer gear ratios internally.. still not exactly great but at least for a while it might add some fun (until its teeth fall out not being synced or meant to shift while moving at all)

Can't fertilize tainted soil I guess. Ideas are funny things, it's possible some might stray from the idea of a traditional "kart". We have seen rock crawling buggies and mud slinging mowers here recently.

Nice box you have there.

rock crawler would be cool..
But you'd want fully independent suspension for such
and most of all a crapton of torque
which that mower transaxle isn't really that reliably capable of providing
(judging by it's sintered gears in bushings and a more or less cheaply cast case)
Don't get me wrong it's great for what it's meant for I'm sure..
but other than mowing the lawn..
yeah ... I'd call that a "no cigar"

Now mudder.. maybe.. just maybe,
then again racing mowers or let's say their owners are usually picky
about what gearboxes and transaxles they use
and how and if to modify them to be able to withstand the abuse
for at least a decent amount of time.
Who knows.. (I frankly do not!)

And again.. not being able to shift on the go without chewing the gear teeth flat
is NEVER a good feature no matter what terrain we talk about, is it?
