Default What I have to deal with here

I always am shocked to see all the great deals y'all find on Craigslist. I want to find a deal myself, and this is the junk I find

https://greenville.craigslist.org/mc...307058951.html

$625...? What is he on?

Yeah, no...

You may need to broaden your search radius, spend a little to save a lot...

The rear wheels are Rupp 'turbine' wheels...leading me to believe the rest of the kart is also a Rupp. But it's been butchered and abused, is incomplete and nowhere near the asking price.

It is very broad search, I get results all the way up in North Carolina

Yeah it is definitely been butchered lol. Looks like it is going to break apart when I sit in it

Going to have to keep searching

Now THAT'S what I call service. You have Germans, in Germany finding you better go kart deals.

A HEMI with 226 cc! You think it's been bored out/over?

Maybe Panhead isn't looking for great deals. I think he's just doing a Craigslist Hall of Shame here.
But, that is a nice kart. Almost, if not, a Manco American Express. "Racing wheel" too, probably the newest thing on it.

In the first pic on the ad, it looks like he greased the tires (the treads!) with Armor All and did a beauty shot on his living room floor. Classy.

That does not qualify as decent for me to be honest

It looks like the tires are on the way out, the gas tank looks like a hackjob, and the seat is a board with a cushion behind it

For over $300 it has to be better than that, this is a better looking deal to me https://atlanta.craigslist.org/eat/f...307315095.html

Still not ideal

Maybe I was spoiled getting what I did at a great price, going by what else is out there

I mean I am always on the look out for a deal, but I guess we all have different ideas of what a deal is

And no offense to Sid, but I do know how to do a search lol I look a few times a week https://athensga.craigslist.org/d/fo...?query=go+cart

Also, I don't want this to turn into an argument, so I hope my above posting doesn't offend anyone

I can't say for Sidney, but it's all in good fun.

This, from your own search, I would have no issue plunking down $60 for. Heck, let's do an even fifty:

https://athensga.craigslist.org/spo/...263803135.html

Not exactly a "frame" as the seller calls it. It looks complete and Briggs are just too dadgum easy to fix.

Better go buy it, Panhead!

Well.. as with almost everything else that doesn't fit in a shoe box...
location location location
Frankly I have no clue what type of location greenville is for karts..
so yeah.

And yes, that pricetag is a bit out of what I'd pay myself.. but that can be talked down
into the realms of what it's actually worth
(unlike the one from post #1 which is far enough off that one wouldn't even bother to try )

Anyways,
with karts (plural) worth looking at and talking to the current owner about around
and a statement like

forgive me when the worst kart at the highest price is not the ideal link to post,

I've been looking at that for awhile, but seems to be more child sized? Hard to tell

(I'm actually in Athens, Greenville is aways away )

Anyway, I meant that when searching for a good deal, I come across stuff like the $625 thing, so this was more of a "let's laugh at this guy" post

But, with that said, I might try to talk down the guy with the "226cc" engine. Always wanted a road cart

From my point of view that's a $60 investment in $200 (what I could flip it for, after tidying it up). Or more realistically, $250-$300+/-.

That's a 10" steering wheel for visual reference and that frame looks like your run-of-the-mill Carter Brothers (best guess) kart. I'm going to have to take you to task for the "child sized" comment. Gotta slap you in the face a few times to make sure you're fully conscious. ...

You see, either they made go karts for kids (5, 6, 7, 8 years old?) or they made them small on purpose, you know, to be fun and nimble, zippy and fast, agile even.

There are some larger "adult sized" karts out there, the Dingo 390 for instance, but by and large they are small-framed and you scrunch yourself/contort yourself a bit to fit them. That's part of the fun as well and the entertaining juxtaposition of a grown adult sitting in a *mini car* is the charm.

Small size is an advantage, especially for the racing karts. If you make 'em large so a whiny adult can stretch their legs out, you end up with a large, heavy and more importantly slow kart on your hands.

If karts are intended for children, someone forgot to tell Steve!
