Simple poll with great feedback so far. Click below if you want to register your opinion. Roll bar for 70-mph go kart.... Keep it or lose it? Thanks.

Roll bar ain't gonna do squat at 70mph, BUT...

Depends on the planned use of the kart, and whether or not Lawyers could end up involved.

Thanks for comment. Karts are for competition racing only on race tracks. Not for recreational use. Consensus so far is “lose the roll bar”.

You could've posted this thread with a poll...
I never go back to Facebook, with their ridiculous amounts of spam mail and the huge privacy policy meltdown.

Doesn't look like there is a seatbelt, so what's the point?

What would be the point (or benefit) of removing the roll bar?

To remove extra weight or enhance aerodynamics?

IMO
Removing it is probably not gonna make a huge difference in performance
…& extra protection is extra protection

So, I would vote to keep it

I would add a full roll cage if you're going 70 mph!

The guy I got my Briggs parts from at Pate this year had a trailer with 3 caged race karts. I think they were champ karts. One had an Animal type engine and two had flatheads. I still regret not trying to buy a kart or at least an engine from him.

Did this on a 9 horse dingo with only the rear half of the cage, I'd add to the cage and add a 4 point harness at minimum, but like ^^^ said, entirely up to you.
