Default Cadillac bike!

Traded an old go kart frame site unseen for this (What I assume is) Sears mini bike. I thought it was a Bird - Duck from the blurry pic he sent. I was told that the Sears had 1" frame and the extra gussets around the neck. The guy I got it from told me that it had no power and he replaced the clutch but that wasn't the problem. When I got there he said he just had it running. I was in a hurry and just unloaded the go kart and loaded the bike and ran home. I got it home and noticed the gussets I mentioned earlier were cracked and the fork wobbled. The frame was notched to fit the briggs. I checked the oil and it was completely dry. I filled it up and it started on the first crank. I know why there is a Caddy emblem on it. It smokes like every GM product. I have a few other projects so this will sit patiently in the corner of my shop while I finish a few other things.

Smokes like every GM product?

Ruling out GM, that leaves Ford and Chrysler/FCA (assuming the Big Three)...

What’s your favorite never-smoking auto producer?
I’d love a non-smoking car (or small engine, if that’s what we’re discussing), do tell!

Started work on the Caddy today. The gussets on the neck were cracked and caused the forks to wobble. I got a closer look at the frame where it was notched out. They at least had the decency to plug the holes. Evert thing came apart easy. The shocks have certainly seen better days. The old motor (only 3 months older than me) left a nasty mess. I could look for NOS parts and scour Ebay for original parts but that isn't my style. I am probably going to chop off the half cut frame piece and slide on a 1" ID pipe and weld it on threads and all and clearcoat it. Since I am going to work on the neck I might give it a rake and use some small motorcycle or scooter forks and build a front end with a street tire. I really don't like the bars on this thing and I am sure someone out there is looking for a duck/Sears front end. I have a trade pending and I hope to get a couple of scooters and motorcycles for a 24hp Kawasaki lawn mower motor. I just got a 5hp Briggs I/C off Facebook so I am going to swap my tank and blower housing to it. This is probably going to be a slow build because I am notoriously cheap and prefer to trade for things.

Grainger had a closeout sale 2 months ago on eBay. I picked up this 100ft of #35 chain for under $10. The regular price was over $230. It just came today. I guess I have no excuses running a chain with multiple master links.
