Well I just made a relatively easy $10. A guy I work with needed his rear tire for his Doodle bug mini bike fixed. It was leaking air and he thought it was from the rope plug he put in. Turned out it was the bead. So after taking the disc and sprocket off and letting the air out, just put the tire and wheel in a bench vise and popped the bead. The bead of the tire was a bit disgusting, so just put some bead sealer on it and checked it. Wasn't leaking so gave it back. Since our advisor can't make a repair order for a mini bike, he just said give the guy a few dollars to fix it and I'll turn a blind eye. Our main boss is on vacation all week and it has been so nice and stress free here since he's been gone.

Your service advisor needs to go back to school. There they taught him when you can do something under the table, always take a cut. The proper procedure would have been for the SA to take $20 from your co-worker, then slip you $10 for doing the work.

A better trade would have been, I fix the tire, I get the Mini Bike. Seems fair to me lol.

Sad news, my great-grandmother passed away this afternoon. She was 105 years old.
She was doing ok up until this past week. Bed ridden, but able to talk and eat. A few days ago we think she might have had some kind of small stroke or something, and we thought she was about to pass. But she made it through that night and was a little better. The whole family was here this weekend to celebrate my grandmothers 80th birthday (my great-grandmothers daughter) and we all got to see her. She would not have been coherent enough to know who we were, but she slept the whole time anyway. I was told she passed away in her sleep...she had some labored breathing then stopped and they checked and there was no pulse. It's always very sad when a family members passes, but she had a very good life and it was just time for her to pass on. She is in a better place now. Sorry to give this thread a sad turn guys but just keep your loved ones close. And know that they won't be here forever. We all have fond memories of her so we will keep those and remember the happy times. I remember one of the funnies stories was when she was in her 90s and still 100% able to function independently, but rather hard of hearing, we were at a dance recital and in between dances the lights went out. She practically yelled BOO and the room tried so hard not to laugh; she had no idea she hadn't whispered it and didn't even hear the laughter. Every time she saw me she asked what all the mess on my face was (when I was starting to grow a beard). And she asked a largely overweight family member why she kept eating ice cream when looking like that (she was in her late 90s then). Be safe guys and tell your family you love them. |

Thank you Denny. We aren't terribly upset as she was old and we knew it was coming. But still hard to go through.

She seemed to have lived a long fruitful life. Sorry for your loss, it sucks to lose any family member young or old. She has seen a lot in her time, a lot of monumental moments. May she rest in peace.

Sorry for your loss. That 105 years was full indeed. 2 world wars, men on the moon, the (color!) television, mass production of the automobile, interstate highways, long distance phone lines, indoor plumbing, the list goes on and on.

Any updates on the house? Quote:
She told us (and has the ticket stubs somewhere) that she was at the FIRST showing of Gone with the Wind, when all the famous actors/actresses in the movie attended the premier. Really crazy to think about how much stuff she saw. She had some incredible stories. One of the funniest ones to me (when I was in middle school at least lol) was she remembers having an outhouse (she lived in a relatively poor area when she was a child), and a guy coming by every few days to take care of it and clean it (still not sure what exactly he had to do!) |

The second one...unfortunately both my offer and another one went to the owner at the same time again. This time, our offers were exactly the same, but the owner chose the other one because it was an investment buyer that would allow the existing tenants to stay on, and not ask them to leave like I would. It was an emotional decision on his part. Hopefully next time I put an offer in for a place, there isn't some scumbag dog it at the same time ![]() ![]() |

Depending on the area of town I want to buy in, I can either get a really old 3 bedroom house that will need some work for that price, or I can get a townhouse in a secure complex for about R1.2M. I don't know what the average prices of houses are over there, but if you want a really good 3-4 bedroom family home here in good condition, you will probably pay between R2-3 million here. Thats about $150 000 - $213000.

Just about an hour ago Lincoln Police were here questioning tenets here if we saw anyone suspicious here. I guess one of the apartments or townhomes here was broken into. Happened several hours ago. We've been home all day, but only for like the last 5 hours (like to sleep in on weekends). So we saw nothing. Though not too surprised. Started looking at what our options are for security systems, not going to look at NEST, because they have near Gameboy level security and are easily hacked I guess...granted system can be if the person doing it has nothing better to do.
