Default 5/8" ID bearings won't fit 5/8" OD axel

Hi all. Sorry if this has been covered before, but I did a search and can't find anything similar. I bought the common 5/8" ID, 1 3/8" with lock rings (sealed) for my go kart. I have checked the diameters with a digital caliper and they are both 5/8" (bearings ID and axel OD). Thing is, if I don't beat them on, they don't fit. Then, that just destroys the bearings. I'm not sure what else I can do. They just won't fit at all. Front or rear (fixed axel, one wheel drive. Regular spindles). Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Default

chances are the axle ends are slightly mushroomed out.

just give the ends a quick lick with a file or an angle grinder and try again
