Default Shriner Go Kart

I recently traded a Barstool Racer I purchased in an estate auction for a Shriner Roadster go kart. I'm looking for information, or places to find it, about the original go kart design if it exists or is identifiable. Trying to figure out just how much of the kart is DIY or OEM. And hopefully good places to find replacement and upgrade parts.

Thanks for any assistance in advance.

Dang! That thing is SAWEET!
Bodied go karts are a bit of an oddity, and that's a real jewel!
Looks quite stock from that picture, but let's see some pics with the body off.
What's your plans for it? Blast around the neighborhood? Racing with friends? Tinkering and riding with the kids?

Plans for it are a little bit of everything. Maybe not racing yet. More pics will have to come later. Thats the only one i have at the moment. Don't know much about it other than the previous owner put in a 13.5hp Briggs and electric start. I'll more than likely repaint it, make some other minor repairs where the wear is showing. Not really sure what direction i want to take it. Just trying to figuring out what i have and what it needs. Figure that's always a good place to start.

I created a public album that i will try to update with more pics as the project moves along. My goal right now is to get it cleaned up and ride worthy then go from there.

13.5 HP Briggs???
That's a powerful engine! And E-start is neat.
What's keeping it from being ride worthy?

A lot of those Shriner cars are built similar to concession karts. Very sturdy, and very heavy.

Last time I drove concession karts, they had GX390s, running right around the factory 3600 rpm, and they still accelerated slow and topped out around 20mph. They are some heavy suckers that need big engines to go.

Can I have my gokart back now? That's super cool! Now I know what I'll be looking for in the future.

According to its previous owner, at one time it was the fastest go kart in the Shrine.

I'm not entirely sure whats keeping it from running yet. I'm still troubleshooting it. So far I've put a new battery in it and checked all the electrical connections, all seems to be in proper order. I'll be sure to take some more pics tomorrow and post them. Maybe one of you will notice something i'm missing.

Better yet, what happens if you just put the key in and try to start it? It might just start up with some fresh gas, ya never know. Tell us what happens!
Our local Shriner club has about a dozen or so Corvette bodied karts with Honda(I think GX270s?) that they always run in the 4th of July parade. They're fun to watch along with the Wheelying Elvises on mini bikes!

I've uploaded a few more pics to my album. A buddy and I were able to get her running, sounds really good. Drives a bit squirrely, needs some new bearings I think in the front wheels. I have video but the website wouldn't let me upload them.

For some reason the pics are turning sideways when I upload them and I can't figure out why, or how to correct it.

With the sideways pics, turn your phone so it's on it's side(landscape orientation) instead of portrait orientation.

I think he stumbled across the rarest oddity known to man, the upside down flying trike.
