Default "remote" engine controls

I was hoping to bring the choke, throttle, kill switch, and pull start "away" from the engine with cables. However I am stumped at the choke. I am not sure how to attach a cable to the choke lever. I tried a cable nut from a Predator engine and I drilled across the center of a bolt but they both interfere with the air cleaner housing. Not sure what to do and time is NOT on my side.

As for the throttle, I went with the one below and it doesn't play very nicely with the Predator but I have some more ideas I can work tonight.

Can you glue-lam some metal to the top and bottom of the choke lever to give some extension?

A pushrod linkage might be more appropriate, at least right at the motor, then cable from there. That way you can put a hook in it to allow it to clear the cover.

None of the Honda/clone engines are real "remote choke" friendly... There's not really even a good way to attach directly to the choke plate thanks to the molded-in-place plastic lever, let alone going through the factory choke mechanism.

I have seen recoil starters done with a real long rope and routed via small brass pulleys though.

Sometimes the simplest solution is best. How about "scrap" metal from an old beach umbrella. It is extremely springy and very difficult to bend the loop. And as awkward as the "lever" is, the choke is controlled with ease.

For the throttle I drilled out the large rivet that held the lever together. I replaced with 1/4" 20 bolt and nylon lock washer to achieve minimal resistance in the lever. That with some additional springs on the throttle linkage and that is a smooth operation now!

As with a lot of these things, a night of sleep and some down time to think, and some good ol tinkerin and you'll figure it out.

I put a 18hp Duramax in my golfcart....I used a universal choke cable
and drilled a hole in the plastic choke lever an added a cable barrel.
It didnt have the braided cable inside it was the solid wire type....a lot stiffer for pulling/pushing.

No pic at the moment....good luck
