Would you stock up on these or would you do them on a per order basis?

We already have the first set of units in production, and our plan is to offer the first 50 clutches at a reduced price to the forum guys. To answer your question, exenos, we will be stocking up on these clutches as well as carrying an inventory of spare parts etc. That way, when an order is placed we can have it shipped next day.

Does this have different gears or is it just a clutch(putting the power to the wheels and taking it off)?

How about sprocket sizes and diameters? #35 to start, any plans on doing larger?
I know you said you will start with 3/4" shaft than maybe larger down the road...when do you foresee these models coming out?

Oh, ok now it all makes sense. When I read through the thread I never heard anything about different gears.

Pricing has been tricky since the start. The clutch requires precision machining of several critical surfaces, heat treating, gas nitriding, and finish machining. When the project was started, our goal was to hit a selling price of $100. Through several prototype iterations, we've had to make changes to maximize performance and enhance durability. Of course, this comes with added manufacturing cost. It took time, but we finally ironed out the designs to arrive at a product that works great and will be incredibly durable.

As of now, almost all of the parts and accessories have been ordered for the first set of clutches so we have a better understanding of the price. I can guarantee that the price will be somewhere between $135-150. We are thinking that we will offer the clutch at the bottom of this price range for the first 50 units, and then have to raise the price thereafter. To give you an idea about price, just for the machining and heat treating, the cheapest US shop quoted us at $450 per unit!

I'd like to get people's feedback on the above comments. I know we had said $100 before, but we believe that at a price tag of $135-150, the product is still a very good bang for your buck. Feel free to give us your feedback!

Is the price going to be the same for 3/4, 1 inch and so on.
I have a motor with a 1.125 shaft, will it cost me the same to get one this size.
I also have. Motor with a 7/8 shaft.

We've yet to start prototyping our other clutch designs beyond the 3/4" unit. Our plan is to launch the 3/4" clutch before we start to manufacture these units. While I can't comment too much on price, I imagine it will be slightly more expensive because the added material/ machining time.

Can we put together an official list for the first 50 units?

My son and I are going to start our buildoff entry and this thing will go perfectly with the theme of it. Plus the engine is going to have to idle pretty high so a regular clutch is going to cook pretty quick. It'll be going on a Briggs flatty.

Also, what's the tooth count?

Thanks

We have a list together of people that have voiced interest for our clutch and we will be contacting everyone as soon as we are ready to sell!

As for the tooth count, the smallest size that our design permits is a 14 tooth sprocket. Our first set of clutches will be sold with this sprocket size, and we will also be stocking larger sprocket sizes in the future.
