I wasn’t gonna enter it this year. Was just wanting to place it somewhere since all is asking what my new toy is. But I’ve had one before and I was always curious if it fit or not.

Ok, I'm going for this year's title with our 5th generation 4WD Kart. It will be done and painted with testing video by the end of this year. More pics are to come through the whole build process.

Thanks

I'll get my photos in soon with required doc.

Iím guessing you wonít qualify. Itís gonna be too close to being done by the time you post the password and attached picture of said kart.

4WDKarts & Silentstuget,

Not to burst your bubble, but one of the requirements is that the project can't be more than 50% done at time of entry. So it may not work out. Sorry!

A car transmission in a go kart? Sketch it up and let's take a look. Don't forget to estimate weight, and material for frame. Should be interesting if nothing else to see this sketch.

I'm not at all good with sketches, so I'll try to describe it the best I can (should be easier than trying to read scribbly lines and stick figures). I'm going to make a custom frame and chassis, with a body. It'll be moved by a mildly built predator 670 with a 4 speed manual transmission attached to it. That'll be turning a custom (aka homemade) driveshaft, and a shortened axle, with cheap wheels and smaller of road tires. (I'll work on a sketch using paint). With the size I'm going for, it'll look like it's lifted with huge tires, even though it'll be the stock height of most pickups, and only have 225 (or 235) 75 r15's on it

I just spent all that time typing that up, and I realized, I could have just said I'm building a minicar, or more of a mini suv/truck. Will it still be allowed if I run full street lights and get it street legal?

PS: One hint, Scout. I'll let you figure it out.

So red is the engine, grey is the clutch (it will me an automotive clutch), green is the transmission, tan is the axle and driveshaft, black is the rear leaf spring, and blue is the chassis (I'm thinking 2x3 rectangular tubing and 1 or 1 1/2" tubing for the frame). The engine and trans will be tilted back slightly, but paint won't do that.

I'm going to try to keep this thing under 1,000 pounds (shooting for 750). But I've checked with kartcalc and it seems to think that in 4th gear it'll be able to cruise at 60mph while turning 3600rpm (stock max) even if it weighs 1500. I will build the engine to around 30hp maybe a little more, and hopefully 6k-6500 max rpm. And I'll run an alternator (performance 670 makes one for this engine), so I can have a battery and full lights.

Dang, Thanks dude, I don't think I could do that in a million years (I'm not good with computers). How long did that take.

So pretty much that with a truck body, all in maybe 5/8 to 3/4 scale.

Hm. Your build may suffer without actually some plans. Best of luck, we look forward to seeing it. Move this discussion to a build thread, please, if it's going to continue.
