Default 9.5 Kohler ch395

Okay guys and gals first post I have a go kart that Iím putting a 9.5 Kohler on and have a few questions we want to run lights on it and Iím not sure how I did it a couple of years ago with a 5hp just donít remember how and wondering if I should do a live axle on it as well from a cheap four wheeler but not sure how I would set up brakes right now itís the single drive tire and it will be in grass and not hardly on pavement so Iím not worried about turning itíll slide around any help is appreciated

Let's see some pics of what you have to work with.
Remove the blower housing and post up a pic of what you have under there. You may already have a charging system with an engine that size.
Most 5 HP flathead Briggs have the option of retrofitting parts to have electric start and an alternator charging system.
Personally I like 1WD, but live axle will be much more stable. They still turn reasonably well too, as long as you don't have an excessively wide rear axle or excessively wide rear tires.
