Default go kart chain tighting and other problems

can any one out there please tell me how to go about tighting a go kart chain? I just got this go kart running after 17 years of sitting up,i rebuilt the carb and put a new fuel tank on it. it is an SLXL-700 THUNDER KART, it has a 5 hp briggs and Stratton motor on it. I noticed the chain was loose and I need to know the correct way to tighten it. also the kart runs good until you put it under a load at wide open throttle it dies any ideas of what could be wrong? any help I would appreciate and thanks richard

losin up the bolts that hold the engine to the frame and slide the engine forward as for your carb if you cleand it good thin try adjusting the air fuel mixture screw on the side of the carb.

Im not familiar with the vehicle in question( you need to post a pic, along with drive line type description), but typically the motor moves and/or a spacer(s) is/are added, thats assuming no jackshafts. Clutch to rear axle(wheel.. if 1WD).

You could also take a link out the chain if all other ways don't work
